This summer, the mural was officially dedicated and mounted on the back of the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater. Art Wall at Brooks School Park: The UDO Community Art Subcommittee is recommending a management proposal to the Arts & Culture Commission for the Brooks School Art Wall. Fishers Test Kitchen at The Yard at Fishers District: Three Test Kitchen chefs have been selected and will be announced at a special event on Tuesday, September 10, prior to the Arts & Culture Commission meeting. An invitation will be sent out next week. Arts Crawl: The final Arts Crawl of the summer, presented in partnership with Fishers Arts Council, is Saturday, September 14 from 4-9 p.m. In celebration of the fifth anniversary of the event, the September Arts Crawl will be expanded from the normal model and will feature an art festival centered around the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater. Attendees can watch performances on the NPD AMP stage, shop for artworks from local and regional artists, and enjoy food and drinks from local food trucks and breweries. Local businesses throughout the Nickel Plate District will continue to participate in the event, either by hosting their own artist or performer, and/or displaying artwork by local artists for sale. Several musicians will also be stationed throughout the District to continue the street festival feel, and a complimentary event shuttle will be provided. @FishersIN Instagram Update: Earlier this year, the City rolled out a new citywide Instagram to serve as a storytelling platform for our community. Since launching in April, we have doubled our following, growing from 900 to nearly 2,000 followers. We’ve been working with community organizations and local businesses (i.e. HSE Schools, Conner Prairie, Humane Society for Hamilton County, Rita’s Italian Ice, Four Day Ray, etc.) to help to tell their story through our platform. We recently launched a new “Things to Do This Weekend” series on our Instagram Story, which highlights things to do around our community each weekend, along with our upcoming Parks & Recreation events. As we move into the fall, we’ll be looking to expand our community partnerships, launch new content series, and continue to work on expanding our following. Fall Concerts at the AMP o Recap: In addition to our Summer Concert Series, we added several successful shows featuring national (and international) up-and-coming talent. On July 20, we hosted a free concert starring Chance McCoy of Old Crow Medicine Show and Matt Heckler. On August 9, we welcomed British singer Jade Bird and Ruston Kelly—fresh off their performances at Lollapalooza— for our WTTS partnership show. On August 16, we hosted Bloomington-based funk and soul band Huckleberry Funk. Local street dance group, 31SVN Dance Academy, opened the show. The new lineup brought in a more diverse and August 30, 2019 younger demographic and engaged families in a new and dynamic way. o Coming Up: On September 20, the AMP will host Grammy Award-winning artist, Van Hunt, who has toured alongside acts such as Kanye West, Coldplay, Dave Matthews Band, and Mary J.
