Covid-19 was a new thing and the BID was busy sourcing till screens, social distancing stickers and planning how we could support our members through lockdown and beyond. No one imagined how devastating the subsequent lockdowns and chequered trading patterns would be, particularly on the non-essential retail, food, leisure, travel and hospitality sectors. Throughout this time the BID has remained front and centre in disseminating information and ensuring our members access all forms of government assistance. As I frantically search for positives in all of this, I can see a number. Unlike the crash of 2008, Government really stepped up to the plate with grants, funding and subsidies for the hardest hit businesses.
