The focus of this study is in the develop of the language of "heritage" relating to the Hill starting in the mid-2000s that implicitly connected its heritage to the mythic events of the slaying of the buffalo-demon. This essay argues that the connection between the Hill and "heritage" grows from an assumption that the landscape is historically important because of its role in the myth of the goddess and the buffalo- demon, which is interwoven into the city's history. It demonstrates that this assumption is rooted within a local historical consciousness that places mythic events within the chronology of human history that arose as a negotiation of Indian and colonial understandings of historiography.     The Cyprus Journal of Sciences, Vol. 13, 2015/17-27 ASSESSMENT OF WILD LIFE IN NAGALAND: A CASE STUDY OF INTANKI NATIONAL PARK TONGDI JAMIR*, LIKHUMLA SANGTAM, LIVIKA MURU, NYANBENI PATTON AND BENARO FLYNN** ABSTRACT In the recent past the wild life in the state of Nagaland is threatened by human beings. Therefore, wild life in Intanki National Park (Peren District) of Nagaland was selected to be assessed during the period from 1978-2011. For this, linear regression was used to find out the annual trend. The result indicates that Mithun, Green pigeon, Sambar Western Hoolock Gibbon, Fox, Squirrel, Wild boar, Jungle Fowl and Pied Hornbill show significant increase. This increase can be attributed by better policing whereas Barking Deer, Elephant, Monkeys, Wild Cat and Civet show a decreasing trend but not a significant one. The analysis also reveals that in the Intanki National Park, the elephant population is decreasing significantly, the same pattern is observed for the state but not significantly. It is also observed that the elephant corridor linking different habitats has been broken at various points due to human settlement creating a human-elephant conflict. Further, elephants prefer the secondary forest rather than the primary forest worsening the situation. Thus, the elephant-human conflict might have lead to the decline of the elephant population in the state. Keywords: Wild life; trend; increase; decrease. 1. Will the Minister of DEVELOPMENT OF NORTH EASTERN REGION be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has undertaken any project for improving the connectivity to the capitals of Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh;and (b) if so, the details in this regard? Answer MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF DEVELOPMENT OF NORTH EASTERN REGION (SHRI BUOY KRISHNA HANDIQUE) (a)&(b) Yes Sir. The Government has accorded priority to the improvement of connectivity to the North Eastern Region, including the capitals of the Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh. Details of the efforts made to improve air, road and rail connectivity to these State capitals are as under: I. Air connectivity: Ministry of Civil Aviation have reported that the Route Dispersal Guidelines have been laid with a view to better regulate air transport services taking into account the need for air transport services of different regions of the country including North East region. Details of air connectivity services and projects in the State capitals of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh are given below:- Nagaland - Dimapur is connected by air services to Kolkata, Dibrugarh, Guwahati & Imphal. A new Greenfield airport at Chiethu (Kohima) is planned at an estimated cost of Rs.954 crore. Manipur - Imphal is connected by air services to Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Silchar, Agartala and Aizwal. Up-gradation of the existing Airport to accommodate bigger aircrafts is also planned.
