Page 8 of 52 An article appeared in the Navhind Times Supplement – Kuriocity, about BBA (Shipping and Logistics) course titled "EXPLORING SHIPPING and LOGISTICS IN-DEPTH” on 2nd August 2019. Page 9 of 52 Freshers’ Party was organized by the FYBBA and FYBBA (Shipping & Logistics) Batch on 20th July 2019. On 12th July 2019, K Sera Sera at the 1930 Mall, Vasco-Da-Gama organised a special show of the movie 'Super 30' for the BBA students. The movie is an eye opener and sensitizes the younger generation to the difficulties which children of the lower strata of society go through, to get education. Such movies need to be shown to students in order to change the thinking of society. It also emphasizes on innovative thinking on the part of teachers to develop creative thought process in students to overcome difficult problems/ situations. Page 10 of 52 MESCAFE (a snacks outlet) was inaugrated on 8th July 2019 by SYBBA student Mr. Ribhav Sardesai (International Football Player) and Ms. Praneeta Bhosle (Topper of TYBA April 2019). MESCAFE is run by our Ex-Student Mr. Benson D'Souza of Souza and sons. Page 11 of 52 The Orientation Program was held for the students of FYBBA and FYBBA (Shipping & Logistics) and their st parents on 1 July 2019. The IMO (International Maritime Organisation) theme for 2019 was "Empowering Women in Maritime Community". On the occasion of World Maritime Day, The BBA (Shipping and Logistics) department felicitated two eminent women from the Port town of Vasco, for their contribution and making a name for themselves in the Maritime Industry Mrs. Madeline Pereira and Ms. Siddhi Salgaoncar on 10th October 2019. Mr. B.S. Mathur, Chairman of Marine Engineers, India – Goa Branch was the key note speaker. Page 12 of 52 Students of BBA attended the knowledge sessions at Vibrant Goa on 18th October 2019. Dr. D Y Patil Pratishthan's MBA Institution, Dr. Balasaheb Bhamango l& Dr. Pravin Thorat addressed the students about the Institution’s MBA Program on 8th January 2020. Page 13 of 52 H.E. Shin Bongkil Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, visited MES's RAJARAM and TARABAI BANDEKAR ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT EDUCATION on 24thDecember 2019. He addressed the students of BBA and M. Com on the work culture in Korea. He also said that he would consider if a collaboration in education between MES College and Korean colleges was possible. He was accompanied by the Minister of Youth Affairs in Korea. TYBBA students presentation on their Project in Sales Management on 23rd December 2019. Page 14 of 52 TYBBA (Shipping & Logistics) students organised an inter class Control Cricket tournament, as part of their course 'Event Management' on 3rd and 4th March 2020. Mr. Prashant Nayak, Asst. Vice-President Smartlink Holdings Ltd. conducted Mock Interviews for TYBBA students on 29th February 2020. Page 15 of 52 V) ACHIEVEMENTS OF STUDENTS Mr. Bhushan Patil and Mr. Suraj Rawat from TYBBA ( Shipping and Logistics) won First place (gold) at the Inter-Class Power Lifting Competition for men, Category ‘62-72 kg’ and ‘72 kg and above’ respectively, organised by The Department of Physical Education and Sports of MES College on 5th August 2019. Page 16 of 52 Pawan Gorantala of TYBBA (Shipping and Logistics) received the prize from the Vice Chancellor of Goa University, Varun Sahni. He won the consolation prize for essay writing competition at the 3rd Edition of IDEAS UNLEASHED organised by ICG-Goa University. The topic was “Achieving The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): The Challenges for Goa”. The team from MES stood in the top 10 among 111 students from 33 colleges in Goa. Mr. Suraj Rawat from TYBBA ( Shipping & Logistics) won the Bronze medal at University Inter College Competition in the upto and including 93 kgs category powerlifting competition organised by Goa University. Page 17 of 52 Mr. Bhushan Patil from TYBBA (Shipping and Logistics) won Mr. HERCULES 2019 organised by Don Bosco College Panjim on 28th, 29th and 30th of August 2019. Page 18 of 52 Ribhav Sardesai SYBBA student was selected to Saksham Kashyap from FYBBA was play for GOA for the National Football crowned Mr. Fresher 2019-20 on 21st Championship - SANTOSH TROPHY 2019-20. September 2019 The team was also the winner in the Group B West Zone, thus qualifying for the next round on 27th September 2019. Mr. Rajat Nair of TY BBA ( Shipping and Logistics) won the Chota Cinema award for his film "La la Love" organised by Yuva Gomantak Dal in October 2019. Page 19 of 52 Akib Shaikh from SYBBA won the 2nd place for Finance round at Odyssey - Management Competition organised by Saraswat College which concluded on 12th October 2019. Tejas Sutar, Pooja Satoskar, Gurtej Singh participated from TYBBA, and Debabrath Poddar from FYBBA. Ms. Pallavi Nayak (standing eight from left) from FYBBA (Shipping & Logistics) won 3rd Place in elocution competition organised by M/s Goa Shipyard Limited as a part of the Vigilance Awareness Week. The topic was "Integrity a way of life" on 18th October 2019. Page 20 of 52 Madhukar Ghogale of TYBBA (Shipping and Logistics) won Gold Medal in Black belt category, at the 4thAll India National Combat Martial Arts Wado-Ryo Karate Championship 2019 held at Mumbai. The championship was held on the 10th November 2019 and more than 500 participants from 16 states participated. Page 25 of 52 2) First Place in Spanning, Second Place in Kata-Maroon Belt, and Second Place in Weapon Kata in Goa Inter-State Karate Championship 2019 held on 28th and 29th December 2019. Neeve Miranda and Muskan Majid of Madhukar Ghogale of TYBBA (Shipping & SYBBA won second place in quiz at Logistics) won Silver Medal in Karate Black 'Envisage' National Level Management fest belt 66kg category at 6th All Goa Tang Soo at Jain College Belgaum on 4th March 2020. do State level Championship 2019-2020 organised by Tang Soo do Association of Goa. Former BBA student of Batch 2011-14 Mr. Anthony Gomes and current Chairman of Alumni Association of MES College, won the Venkatesh Govind Sinai Virginkar Prize for standing first in the M.A. French examination at the Goa University Convocation ceremony held at Kala Academy on 24th February 2020. Page 26 of 52 SYBBA (Shipping & Logistics) student Mr. Anindya Chatterjee won the first place for Quiz and Mr. Akib Shaikh (SYBBA) for won the second place in Finance at ACCUMEN-International level Management Competition organised by Gogte College, Belgaum on 7th and 8th February 2020. TYBBA student Tejas Sutar won first place for Marketing round. Dev Poddar of SYBBA won second place for Entrepreneurship and Akib Shaikh won second place for Finance round at COSMOCRAT 7 Management event organised by Don Bosco College, Panjim on 22nd and 23rd January 2020. Ribhav Sardesai of SYBBA was felicitated by JCI Vasco as the "Youth Icon 2020" of Vasco on National Youth Day, 18th January 2020. Page 27 of 52 VI) COMMUNITY PROGRAMS The SYBBA students undertook a procession, on 8th August 2019, in Vasco during 'Saptha' to reinforce the concept of 'SAYING NO TO PLASTIC'.

As I am writing this, the rains seem to have bid us good bye finally! July this year, was by far the wettest month, not a single day went by when there was no rain. Yet we continued relentlessly with our work and programmes all through the monsoons. As you will see in the Newsletter, we have given you again a complete range from seminars to workshops, to book readings, lectures and quizzes. An evening tea with some members resulted in a coffee demonstration session, which was very well attended. Apart from seminars and debates, it seems, we have a large audience for interesting programmes like these too. In July, we had elections for a new President of the Centre. The members of the Board elect the President, from amongst the life trustees for a term of five years. Mr. Yatin Kakodkar was unanimously elected as President and Mr. Dattaraj Salgaocar as Vice President. We bid a sad farewell to Mr. Pratap Singh Rane who was President for two consecutive terms. Mr. Kakodkar and Mr. Salgaocar, are both actively involved in the running of the Centre and like to keep abreast of all activities which are happening here. We welcome them and wish them both a happy and successful tenure. As the months go by, we are getting closer to our grand annual event-the Goa Arts and Literary Festival.

Using theories of creolization, archival and field research in Goa, and an understanding of quadrille dancing as a social and memorial act, this article presents the mando as a peninsular, Indic, creolized quadrille.     Review of the KetevanWorld Sacred Music Festival at Old Goa www.ketevanmusicfestival.com Repositioning of Goa’s Culture through Music The 10 days Ketevan Music Festival just came to an end as we still relish in the glory of this magnificent experience. I think everyone was touched in some or the other way by the music, the people, the sites, the atmosphere... whatever. Some of the associates and musicians mentioned it was a life transforming experience, more than the ordinary. Utsav Lal the piano prodigy with his immense International experience said, he would come next time again, even as visitor, no matter if he performs or not - such was the impact of the experience. Similar comments we heard from Debashish Rehearsals at the University... Bhattacharya, Rakesh Chourasia and more so from the musicians from Europe. Preparations at the St Augustine Ruins with the Choir... Most surprising however was the fact that at the second weekend all concerts were filled with Goan audiences. This was not expected as it is unusual. It may just be the case that this festival touched a string of the soul of this people. Something had come alive, the press published some 50 articles on the festival, unheard in the realms of classical music in India. We do hope that this experience can be replicated in years to come - similar, however not the same. With new places, formation, people, musicians, motto and an opening up to a greater dimension which fits into this present time of history and geography, we will now look beyond the moment as a still image and gauge of what is yet to come.

Ranjeeta Basu, Mtafiti Imara California State University San Marcos, California, USA The objective of this paper is to assess the impact of tourism on the local music culture in Goa from the perspective of musicians. We consider musicians to be one of the principal, yet often understated agents of cultural change. Musicians are both economic and cultural actors. In the economic space, they participate in the labor market of the tourism industry by performing at local restaurants, hotels, cruises, and other tourist venues, and they make changes to their music in the cultural space by responding to tastes and preferences of tourists. This research is an interdisciplinary study of the nexus point among these overlapping spaces in order to understand how musicians have been affected by and have responded to tourism, which may in turn change the collective identity of the community. It is an exploration of relationships among cultural change, power, and identity. Our findings suggest that tourism in Goa has undoubtedly raised incomes of musicians but not necessarily their well-being. Tourism has also significantly changed music culture in Goa.     Chairman CII Goa State Council Dear Young Indians, I am proud to witness the transition in Young Indians – Goa Chapter over the years and the tremendous potential it has gained, wherein this vibrant chapter is poised to be one of the leading Chapters in the country. As the Chairman of the CII Goa Council I have experienced a strong sense of enthusiasm and camaraderie amongst the Yi Goa Chapter Members and the passion they possess towards the successful completion of activities entrusted. I take this opportunity to extend my deepest appreciation to Mr Nitin Desai and the entire team of office bearers, not forgetting all the Past Chapter Chairs for passionately fulfilling their roles and responsibilities towards Nation building... I understand Yi under his able leadership has initiated several unique initiatives during the year and sincerely hope the same continues…. In my tenure as the Chairman of CII Goa State Council for the year 2015-16, I have had the privilege of working and closely witnessing the activities of the Yi Goa Chapter members with a great deal of keenness & admiration. It was yet another year of perfect synergy between CII and Yi working closely together to bring out activities and unique initiatives.
