If you are from Australia, the Australian definition of gluten free is stricter than in Europe. Australia currently has a requirement of <3ppm to be defined as gluten free, whereas Europe is <20ppm. Look out for oat products labelled gluten free (meaning uncontaminated with wheat), malt vinegar, some malt extracts and wheat maltodextrin being labelled as gluten free. You may also see ‘Codex Wheat Starch’ in a gluten free product, which meets the <20ppm requirement.
