Weights are 1/10, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 fine ounce. These coins are twenty two karat - 91.67 per cent gold - containing copper and silver - ninety two percent gold, five percent silver, and three percent copper. The gold eagle was first introduced in 1986, after it was authorized by the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985.
