EducationArts Society College- Newsletter College has a New Campus: The new academic year marked a signifi cant change for the college as it moved from its legacy campus to an entirely new Campus. The new campus has enviable verdant surroundings and is one of the fi nest college campuses in the state of Gujarat, with state of the art infrastructure and aesthetically designed Landscape. The new campus has 20MBPS Wi-Fi facility, smart classes, for Staff and students, Hi-Tech Computer Labs, Air-conditioned Staff Room, Air-conditioned Library with computer facilities connected with the Infl ibnet N-List program to access 1.50 lacs e-books and over 5000 journals, and Elevator facilities for physically handicapped students.

The new campus has hugely impacted the society at large as visitors are highly appreciative of the campus and its infrastructure. The College witnessed an unprecedented demand for admissions this year. It got highest fi rst preference in the First Year admission processed by Gujarat University. The admission rush was so high that the College had to request the University for Additional Intake which was immediately sanctioned by the University.

This year there are more than 25 visually challenged students in the College.

• The college was ranked between 151 and 200 in the College Category by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

• The College celebrated Annual Day – Culfest at the new College premises with lot of enthusiasm.

• NSS volunteers donated more than 600 clothes in the slum areas of the city in the month of January 2017.

• Dr. Mahesh Chhabria was nominated as a Member of Search Committee for Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University in January 2016; as Fellow of Gujarat Science Academy, 2017 as well as Senate member for three years at NIPER-Ahmedabad from March 2017. • Dr. Alpana Shukla (Head, Botany department) has been granted a project with SAC-ISRO for 50 lakhs for a period of four years. (2017-2021) and Rs. 12 lakh for a minor project for two years.

• Dr. Alpana Shukla also received a grant of Rs. 1 lakh from ISRO Headquarters Bangalore, for conducting a Teachers’ Training Programme on “Basic Principles of Remote Sensing and Data analysis” during the year 2016-2017

• Dr. Paras Solanki (Asso. Professor, Geology department) has been awarded a project entitled “Estimation of Feo and TiO2 abundances on the Lunar surface using Chandrayaan-1 HySI satellite data” under Chandrayaan-1 mission from SAC-ISRO with a budget of Rs. 20.05 Lakh for three years.

• AES has sanctioned the Institutional charge amount of Dr. Alpana Shukla’s research projects of Rs. 40000/- to be used in the development of Biodiversity Park and Green trail and the botanical garden.
