5. How was Emerald City built? a. Emerald City was built by the people who initially thought Oz was a powerful Wizard. They built the city because they thought he was powerful.

6. Explain why everyone had to wear the green spectacles. a. Everyone in Emerald City wore the green spectacles because it made Emerald City appear green and glorious, even though; Emerald City was just like any other place.

7. Why didn’t Oz kill the witches himself? a. Oz did not actually have powers, and with no powers; Oz could not destroy the witches.

8. What is a humbug? a. A humbug is someone pretending to be something/someone they are not. They are a fake.

9. What does Oz give ? a. Oz gives Scarecrow bran and needles. Scarecrow thinks he receives a brain.

10. What does Oz give ? a. Oz gives Tin Woodman a heart made of silk and stuffed with sawdust. Tin Woodman thinks he receives a real heart.

11. What does Oz give ? a. Oz gives Cowardly Lion a liquid that Oz says his courage. Cowardly Lion thinks he receives a magical potion.

12. Why does Oz want to leave Emerald City? How does Oz leave? a. Oz wants to leave Emerald City because he has grown tired of lying. He also does not want to be a shut-in or reclusive anymore. Oz says he is going to see his brother. Oz leaves in the balloon.
