Everyone in Emerald City wore the green spectacles because it made Emerald City appear green and glorious, even though; Emerald City was just like any other place. 7. Why didn’t Oz kill the witches himself? a. Oz did not actually have powers, and with no powers; Oz could not destroy the witches. 8. What is a humbug? a. A humbug is someone pretending to be something/someone they are not. They are a fake. 9. What does Oz give Scarecrow? a. Oz gives Scarecrow bran and needles. Scarecrow thinks he receives a brain. 10. What does Oz give Tin Woodman? a. Oz gives Tin Woodman a heart made of silk and stuffed with sawdust. Tin Woodman thinks he receives a real heart. 11. What does Oz give Cowardly Lion? a. Oz gives Cowardly Lion a liquid that Oz says his courage. Cowardly Lion thinks he receives a magical potion. 12. Why does Oz want to leave Emerald City? How does Oz leave? a.
