Emanating from the President ’s announcement of a nationwide 21-day lockdown in order to minimise the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the KwaZulu- Film Commission will begin to operate remotely from 27 March – 16 April 2020. Our employees have been equipped to operate from their respective homes and will continue to deliver services to you. During the lockdown period the KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission will have a very limited presence at the offices and will therefore temporarily halt the delivery of any new applications to our offices. The revised closing dates are as follows:

Our top priority is the health and well-being of our stakeholders, families, staff and community and that we all work together in halting the spread of the virus.

We wish all of you continued health and strength during this challenging time.

Our operations will continue as normal though remotely and we will be able to respond to any enquiries that you may have.

Film Fund

All filmmakers who have applied to the film fund in the last cycle will still receive the outcome of their application, any meetings in this regard will be done telephonically by the team and filmmakers are kindly requested to make themselves available for the telephonic meetings with the film commission.

Training programmes

Our training programmes for the cycle have come to an end, with the exception of the graduate training programme. This programme will continue and our graduates are kindly requested to co-operate with the team on the arrangements that have been put in place for the lock down period. There will be a delay with the implementation of our training programmes for the next cycle, we will resume after the lock down period.

The date for the nominee announcement will be amended in line with the new closing date, any changes with regards to the awards ceremony will be announced timeously.
