School Close, Bourton Avenue Patchway South Gloucestershire BS34 6DW T: 01454 866772 www.stokelodgeschool.co.uk [email protected] Monday 6th July 2020 Y6 End of Year Celebrations Dear Parents/Carers, The transition from primary to secondary school is an exciting and also worrying time for you and your child. Our aim is to make this as enjoyable as possible for our pupils who have had a slightly unusual year 6 experience. Remote Learning and In-School Provision We have been blown away by the examples of remote learning that we are receiving and it has also been fantastic to see those of you who have elected to send your child back to school in one of our year 6 bubbles. The examples of remote learning sent directly to the class teachers via Dojo or to the school office have been amazing and we are collating it ahead of a whole school display for September to celebrate the learning. You may be aware that for pupils who have been attending school, staff have been providing some time to support with remote learning and the transition projects. We have also been using our whole school key text for the term ‘The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse’ by Charlie Mackesy to drive our restorative curriculum. Whilst we prioritise wellbeing and mental health during this time, pupils have also been working on reading, writing and maths challenges to prepare them ahead of their transition into year 7. Examples of some of your incredible learning can be seen below: The Olympus Academy Trust: a company limited by guarantee Registered in England: Company Number: 07844791 Registered Office: Bradley Stoke Community School, Fiddlers Wood Lane, Bradley Stoke, South Gloucestershire, BS32 9BS School Close, Bourton Avenue Patchway South Gloucestershire BS34 6DW T: 01454 866772 www.stokelodgeschool.co.uk [email protected] End of Year Celebrations This year, to celebrate the end of year all pupils are invited to join us for the following on their keep in touch day: - A graduation ceremony (streamed and shared with parents). - A picnic lunch - A movie afternoon with popcorn - An opportunity to collect and personalise their year book This year our Friends of Stoke Lodge have kindly bought all pupils a leavers year book that pupils will be able to complete and personalise on their transition day in school with us. The team have spent the last couple of weeks looking through old photographs and organising resources for The Olympus Academy Trust: a company limited by guarantee Registered in England: Company Number: 07844791 Registered Office: Bradley Stoke Community School, Fiddlers Wood Lane, Bradley Stoke, South Gloucestershire, BS32 9BS School Close, Bourton Avenue Patchway South Gloucestershire BS34 6DW T: 01454 866772 www.stokelodgeschool.co.uk [email protected] pupils to stick into their books to remind them of special memories and friendships made during their time with us. Photographs of their learning and field trips will also be included. In order for us to use these photographs it is essential that you return the slip below to give permission for photographs of your child to be included. Whole Class Zoom Celebration In addition to the provision above, pupils are invited to join their whole class for a Zoom meeting hosted by the class teacher later this week and a one-to-one transition meeting with their class teacher. During the whole class Zoom meetings, pupils will be invited to make nominations for the upcoming awards ceremony. Key Worker Provision For pupils who are accessing the key worker provision, we understand that this has been a decision made out of absolute necessity and your child would prefer to be with their peers. Whether your child has been attending school as a member of a bubble or accessing the key worker provision throughout, they will be receiving the same transition opportunities and celebrations in a group with peers from their key worker bubble. These pupils will be able to join the picnic outside on the day their friends are in school and staff will continue to encourage them to observe social distancing. Key worker pupils will be able to access the whole class and one-to-one meetings with their class teachers whilst in school and will have a graduation ceremony which will be streamed to parents. They will also have an end of year celebration with new friends they have made in their bubble and be given the opportunity to work with a key worker leader allocated to their group to work on their scrap books. Please return the slip below to the school office by Friday 10th July.
