Institute encourages participation of student representatives in various academic committees, this enable them in acquiring better academic environment.

Student opinions and suggestions are considered to take measures in view of students' perception.

Institute puts efforts for the all-round development of a student. They take part in various professional society chapters like IEEE, IETE, ISTE, CSI, ICI, IEI, SAE, VSI, ASME and ISOI.

• Mechanism/ Norms and Procedure for democratic/ good Governance

The Principal, who is the Academic Head of the Institution, is aided by: Deans, Heads of the Departments, Finance Officer, Section Heads, and Chairpersons of other Institute-level Committees. The various Committees that direct the day- to-day functioning of the Institute include: Governing Council; Academic Council and Boards of Studies; Finance Committee; Finance, Planning and

Development Committee. Other Sections and bodies that take part in Governance include: Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC); Planning, Approvals, Accreditation and Certification (PAAC) Cell; Academics and Admissions (AA); Examinations and Evaluation (EE); Research and Consultancy Cell (RCC); and Mentoring, Training and Placement (MTP) Cell.

The Institute’s Policies, Strategy, Resources, as well as Operations and Quality Assurance cater to the different facets of the Institute, viz. Academics, Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Social Responsibility with Global Vision.

Vignana Jyothi Society, as well as the Principal who ensures seamless management systematically, encourages participative leadership by involving various stakeholders at various appropriate levels of decision-making.

Recurring and intermittent requirements of Departments and Sections are identified by the Heads of the respective Departments and Sections, which are presented to the Finance Committee for evaluation of financial aspects and to the concerned Deans and the Principal for a consolidated need assessment. The identified requirements are presented to the Governing Council by the Principal and approvals necessitate interactions with the concerned stakeholders and faculty members.

Faculty members participate, through corresponding Functional Committees, in finalising curriculum design, teaching methodology of common courses, examination reforms, maintenance of academic standards, and student welfare. Such participation brings transparency to the governance and inherently encourages team-work, while ensuring practicable decision-making. Students and alumni are also involved in certain Committees including the IQAC so that their views are also considered in governance.

Thus, all stakeholders of the Institute are involved at various levels in assessing actual needs, budgetary requirements, academic standards and policy-making, progression in innovation and research. The Principal subsequently drives the resulting policy, strategy, resource allocation, and operations through the Governing Council and the Vignana Jyothi Society. Societal impact and responsibility are assigned prime importance such that the Institute contributes to sustainable socioeconomic development through globally-competitive competence.

• Grievance Redressal mechanism for Faculty, staff and students

The Grievance Redressal Mechanism of the institution is established with an aim to provide easy and readily accessible procedure for prompt disposal of the day to day genuine grievances of the student and faculty community to maintain a congenial atmosphere.

Grievance Redressal Committee was constituted in VNR VJIET in accordance with the University Grants Commission regulations. Any student and faculty with a genuine grievance may approach the Grievance Redressal Committee to submit his/her grievance in writing to “The Chairman, Grievance Redressal Committee, VNRVJIET or send e-mail to [email protected].

The Grievance Committee considers only individual grievances of specific nature of members of the employee. The Grievance Committee considers all grievances submitted in writing by an individual member related to employment, working conditions, and quality of services assured to them and any other alleged injustice done to an employee while discharging his /her duties at the Institute.

Grievances received are addressed systematically with active involvement and cooperation of the respective department/section concerned with the grievance; maintain necessary confidentiality in handling process. The objectives of Grievance Redressal Committee are:

• All the grievances of the students/staff which could not be settled in the routine process should be referred to this committee. • Committee tries to settle the issues amicably in a time bound manner. • Introduces a reasonable and reliable solution for grievances of various issues received from students/parents • Ensures that the grievances are resolved on time impartially and confidentially.

• Establishment of Online Grievance Redressal Mechanism

As per All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) regulations, 2012 under clause 1 of section 23 of the AICTE Act, 1987 (Vide notification F.No. 37- 3/Legal/2012 dated 25.02.2012) regarding the establishment of Mechanism for Grievance Redressal in Technical Institutions, a Grievance Redressal Committee formed to address the grievances of the faculty, students, parents and others.

The Grievance Redressal Committee of VNR VJIET has been constituted with an aim to provide easy and readily accessibility machinery for prompt disposal of the day to day genuine grievances. All aggrieved students, their parents and others may henceforth approach the Grievance Redressal Committee of VNR VJIET in the first instance. The grievance can be lodged online at the

website http://automation.vnrvjiet.ac.in/EduPrime or send through e- mail to [email protected] or in writing to “The Chairman, Grievance Redressal Committee, VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad – 500090. If they are not satisfied with the decision of the committee, they may approach the Ombudsman in JNTUH directly. The Ombudsman shall exercise its powers to hear those grievances and ensure its disposal within one month of the receipt for speedy redress of grievance.

The Online Student’s Grievance Redressal Portal (www.ugc.ac.in/grievance) is also initiated by the University Grants Commission to facilitate students to lodge his or her grievance and provide a mechanism for redressal of their grievances.

The central library has established a federated search knimbus online library in order to offer remote library services to its clientele. The elibrary contains the e-books, lecture notes, E-Journals and Old question papers of B.Tech and M.Tech courses. This library can be availed at the URL https://vnrvjiet.new.knimbus.com/user#/home. The users can register by using VNR VJIET mail ID.

Features of e-library : The federated search engine searches all the purchased databases like IEEE, ASCE, ASME, ELSEVIER, SPRINGERLINK, and shows the results at one-go. The search results can be filtered as source wise, year wise, and author wise. Now with the help of the Knimbus (Federated search engine) our staff and students can access library content outside the campus through their smart phones while sitting at home. • Innovation Cell

The Institute Innovation Cell and Council facilitate the conduction and coordination of innovation activities at the Institute. These activities include support, mentoring, guidance, and facilitation to students approaching the Institute with their innovative ideas, competitions and hackathons conducted on campus and/or participated by the Institute's students, as well as Institute- level grand events such as the Intramural Innovation Competition, Convergence (Annual Technical Symposium), and the Ecficio (Annual Entrepreneurship Fest). The Institute also has active external collaborations with other Innovation centres such as the J-Hub (JNTUH's Innvoation Hub), T-Hub (state-level incubation hub that is purported to be the nation's largest), TiE Hyderabad (the Hyderabad chapter of the world's largest entrepreneur network 'The IndUS Entrepreneurs'), and is represented at the Telangana Incubators and Enablers Network through the in-house Incubator, VJ Foundation for Entrepreneurial Excellence ("VJ Hub") by the Convener of the IIC. These proactive collaboration efforts by the Institute help the IIC bring in the true spirit of nationwide IIC network into practicable action at the Institute and extend the benefits of the same to the stakeholders.
