Please your calendar for the Yacht Club's Christmas Vice Commodore Bruce Cutshall party on December 2ʼnd. The location is in town in a very nice building with 477-1709 a great kitchen. Jerry Grant, Scott Muir, Jeremy, and I 273-7819 took two boats to the Great Pumpkin Regatta hosted by the Richmond Yacht [email protected] Club last week-end. About 200 boats were ready to close the 2007 season Treasurer with a big bang and fun on the bay and...due to no wind the regatta Jean Cutshall was cancelled after 2 hours of drifting around. The club provides turkey, ham and beverages. We also provide the table service. The rest is potluck so please check out the CHRISTMAS PARTY LIST in the newsletter and let us know what your favorite dish to share is.

We will be decorating from noon until about 2 PM that day so if you are interested in helping out there, please let us know. We have a great time!

And donʼt forget the PIRATEʼS EXHANGE! $10 limit per gift. (We have special goodies for the kids under 12 as well – just let us know when you RSVP how many children will be attending and their ages).

Gold Country Yacht Club, Board of Directors Meeting October 2, 2007

Called to Order: Perkoʼs Cafe at 6:07 P.M. by Commodore, Pierre Chatelaine. Present: Pierre Chatelain, Wayne Buti, Tish Buti, Lynn Buchanan, Dave Bloch, Scott Muir, David Niedziejko, Bruce Cutshall, Jean Cutshall. Next Board of Directors Meeting: Oct. 30 at Perkoʼs.

Officer Reports:

Commodore - Pierre Chatelain: Asked for approval of the minutes that Tish had sent out by email for the last Board of Directors meeting and the last general meeting. Motion was made by Lynn to accept the minutes; Jean Cutshall seconded. Motion was carried unanimously. Next order of business was to discuss board nominations for the coming year. Nominations are usually made at the October meeting. The slate is usually presented by a nominating committee composed of 3-5 past commodores. The positions for the coming year: Commodore: Pierre Chatelain has agreed to another year. Vice Commodore: vacant Secretary: Tish Buti has agreed to another year. Treasurer: Jean Cutshall has agreed to another year. Port Captain: David Niedziejko Cruise Director: vacant Membership/Publicity: vacant Race Chairman: Jerry Lewis?? Sailing Education: Lynn Buchanan has agreed to another year. Newsletter: Scott Muir has agreed to another year.

Next item on the agenda was discussion of this yearʼs Christmas Party. The date has been set for Dec. 1. The location will be the Nevada County Board of Realtors building in the Whispering Pines business park. Tish will run the sheet we have used for sign-ups for the potluck dishes. We will need a decorating committee and someone to help pick up the table service. Pierre offered to take care of picking up the wine, beer and soda. We will collect the Perpetual awards at the November meeting so they can be engraved in time for presentation at the party. Next was discussion of what we can do to support fellow member, Bismark Dinius in his dilemma. We will try to come up with a presentation for the general members to help present his situation. Scott will try and

Port Captain - Wayne Buti: Everything has been put away. The top was removed from the barge and all the stuff has been stored in the shed. Members with on the Dinghy Dock need to pick them up. Special thanks to all those who showed up to help: Dale Buchanan, Doug Epperson, Hugh Talman and Wayne.

Secretary - Tish Buti: Distributed mail that was received. Took suggestions for what needs to be placed on the Chamber of Commerce list of events for 2008.

Sailing Education – Lynn Buchanan: We have received the pink slips for the sunfish marked EXEMPT. The nice dinghy dolly that David built is still missing. We have received notification of available grant funds. The board unanimously approved Lynn working on the applications due on November 15. Specific items Pierre would like us apply for: chase boat, 420 or FJ sailing fleet, motor for barge, launching dolly. Lynn also announced that she would like to run an Advanced Class for the Juniors next year.

Treasurer – Jean Cutshall: Reported bank balance and comparison of this year versus last year.

Newsletter – Scott Muir: Newsletter articles and Regatta results and pictures deadline is now.

Membership/Publicity Chairman - Dave Bloch: Glad to hear that bylaws passed.

Cruising – David Niedziejko: not a lot to report other than heʼs been cruising.

Commodore – Pierre Chatelain: Next month will be our regular election. Volunteers for the nominating committee (usually past commodores) are: Lynn Buchanan, Jeremy Gicker, Don Samuelson, Wayne Buti. Open positions are Vice Commodore, Membership/Publicity, Cruise Chairman, and possibly race chairman.. Next on the agenda was discussion of our annual Christmas party. Please remember to return

Membership & Publicity – Dave Bloch: Welcomed mew members.

Secretary – Tish Buti: Distributed mail.

Treasurer – Jean Cutshall: Reported bank balance. Made note that since we have started emailing the newsletter, postage expense has dropped dramatically. Also reported that currently we have 62 member families – the most ever!

Vice-Commodore – Bruce Cutshall: Nothing to report at this time.

Port Captain – Wayne Buti: Everything at the lake has been put away for the season. He reported on the letter season pass holders received from Scotts Flat Lake. He also reminded everyone about the November 1st date for getting a mooring ball or dry storage space. There are several new rules and Wayne got the scoop directly from the lake and filled in the membership.

Cruising Chairman – David Niedziejko: Has been off cruising! Gave us a report on where. David and Susan Murphy as well as the Talmans will be participating in the Baja-Ha-Ha. Look for articles in Latitude 38 about them.

Sailing Education Chairman – Lynn Buchanan: Already lining up sessions for the Junior Sailing Program for next year. We are currently missing the dolly we use for launching the dinghies. If you know where it is or can help build some new ones, please give her a call. We have lots of used sails from the Sunfish boats we recently acquired. Some are in shape, but not great. Lynn also reported that she has a “” sailboat if anyone would like it.

New Business:

Annual Awards/Christmas Party: We currently have a date (Saturday, December 1st) and we have a place (Nevada County Board of Realtors on Crown Point Circle in the Whispering Pines Business Park). Nicki Talman offered to be chairman for the event. Tish will email the sign up sheet to everyone. Please be ready to sign up at next monthʼs meeting.

Reminder: If you were the recipient of one of our perpetual trophies, please return it so we will have time for this yearʼs presentation.

Secretary’s Report – Tish Buti Ken Neely offered a couple of dates for sailing in the Bay. Please contact him if youʼre interested. He is also willing to do a video presentation for the Club.
