Friday 22, May 10.30 am Chair to visit Newhaven Fort for Safety in Action week. Organised jointly by the emergency services and Lewes District Council to give pupils the opportunity to test their skills in an emergency. This event has been taking place for over a decade. Over 600 children from 25 schools within the Lewes District are taking part this year.

The bench, in memory of Dick Hixson a former Director of Rutgers University USA who died in Lewes some years ago, formerly resided in the garden of 51 St Anne's Crescent which Rutgers University have used for over 20 years as a base for their European Study Abroad Programme
