CATHY MILLERWELC CANCEROME FUND

We are overjoyed to be celebrating our 14th Annual Catherine Veronica Christmas Gala. In 2006, our founder, Frank Miller embarked on a journey that would eventually involve all of us. Frank’s mission to offer “Care, Comfort & Support” to cancer patients and their caregivers was a dauntless task; one that he took on with intrepid resolve. With Coaches vs. Cancer and the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge as his charity of choice, Frank moved forward determinedly to establish The Cathy Miller Cancer Fund in honor of his late wife, Cathy. The rest is our history.

The Hope Lodge was built and opened in 2009 with the first‐floor wing dedicated to Cathy and the Cathy Miller Cancer Fund. A home away from home was now available to those who needed lodging as they underwent special cancer treatment.

But still, Frank’s vision grew. He took on Partners along the way: Shirley Posey’s “Shirley’s Giving Back”, Elaine Flynn’s “Sandy Run Women’s Golf”, Ashley Stankiewicz’s “Penn Nurses Group”, “The D‐Day Team” honoring the memory of Denise McAloon and “Fashion for the Cure” founded by Graceann DiAndrea.

Frank & Graceann met on their jobs at Office Depot. Frank’s calm approach and wise counsel were a perfect counter‐balance to Graceann’s dynamic and motivating personality. Together they were a force who could accomplish almost anything. And indeed, they did! Over the years, while they worked as Partners, Graceann raised close to $135,000. All of which has been donated to CMCF. These funds are used to support and maintain the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge in Cheltenham, PA. Thus, helping to fulfill Frank’s vision to “Help Another Person”.

Tonight, we honor Graceann for her determination, hard work and true grit! Like us, she’s steadfastly resolute to keep Frank’s meaningful dream alive. Through the challenges that lie ahead, we know we can depend on Graceann. She was Frank’s true friend and is our committed ally in the battle against cancer. Please join us as we celebrate her special Partnership!

On behalf of all those patients and their caregivers your donations have helped through the years, we extend our deep gratitude.

Thanks for all you do! Have a fabulous evening!

Spiker comes to the Dragons from Army West Point, where he spent the past seven seasons as the head coach of the Black Knights. He won 102 games during his time at West Point, tied with Naismith Hall of Fame coach Bob Knight for second all-time at the Academy. This season, Spiker led the Black Knights to a 19-14 record, tied for the best overall mark in the Patriot League. They earned Army’s first postseason appearance since another Hall of Famer, Mike Krzyzewski, led them to the National Invitation Tournament in 1978.

During his tenure there, Howard was involved in all aspects of the Villanova program including on-court teaching, player development and recruiting. He was instrumental in helping the Wildcats win two NCAA National Championships and setting a new NCAA record for the most wins in a four-year span. Prior to Villanova, Howard earned a decade's worth of college coaching experience. He began his career as a student assistant coach at his alma mater, Drexel University, in 2002 after injury cut short his playing career for the Dragons. In 2004, Howard was hired as an assistant to head coach John Giannini at La Salle University. He spent four years with the Explorers before returning to Drexel in 2008 as an assistant coach to James "Bruiser" Flint.
