The Silver Surfer Story/Outline
THE SILVER SURFER STORY/OUTLINE DRAFT 1 “BATTLECRY” WRITTEN BY LARRY BRODY TEASER 1. EXT. THE SOUL MASTER DIMENSION. A scene we’ve witnessed before—but a more pleasant version this time. It’s the SILVER SURFER, SHALLA BAL, and the VIRAL OVERMIND, working together to save Zenn-La and the rest of the planets in this dimension. Except that this time Shalla Bal is not left behind. Instead, she makes it through just in time, rushing into the Silver Surfer’s arms! The Surfer starts to kiss her, and now Shalla Bal vanishes, only her voice remaining, crying out that she is in a dark, frightening place, and begging for the Surfer’s help in getting her out. 2. EXT. SPACE NEAR ZENN-LA. The Surfer soars all around, searching—and awakens to discover that he is flying upward from the now safe Zenn-La…and that everything that just happened was a dream. Yet even now he hears Shalla 2 Bal calling to him, her voice fading out only after the dream has ended. 3. As the Surfer ponders this, he realizes that he is hearing another distress call through a COM BEAM. It’s the leader of a group of REFUGEES, fleeing from a planet that has just fallen to the KREE EMPIRE, and asking for a safe haven. Right behind the Refugees is a KREE FLEET, and the pursuers begin FIRING THEIR ENERGY WEAPONS, hitting not only the Refugees but the Silver Surfer as well! He’s hit again and again in rapid succession, reeling weakly to one knee, as we FADE OUT. -
Ubiquitous Computing, Virtual Worlds, and the Displacement of Property Rights
Ubiquitous Computing, Virtual Worlds, and the Displacement of Property Rights M. ScoT BOONE* Abstract: Examining one emerging technology, virtual worlds, may provide us with insight about another emerging technology, ubiquitous computing. The rapid increase in both the popularity and economic value of virtual worlds has resulted in a conflict over whether players in these worlds have any property rights with respect to virtual world objects associated with their avatars. A close examination however reveals that even if such rights exist, they can be overridden through the combined use of contract and technology. This observation may in turn provide an insight about the future of real world property. The emerging technology of ubiquitous computing shares technological characteristics with virtual worlds such that ubiquitous computing would make a displacement of property rights in real world objects possible in the same way that virtual world technology makes such a displacement possible for potential property rights in virtual world objects. Set Your Minds on Things Above
Set Your Minds on Things Above Welcome/ Introduction by Pastor Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Choir Anthem: Be Thou My Vision Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art Thou my best thought, by day or by night Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light. Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise Thou mine inheritance, now and always Thou and Thou only, the first in my heart Blessed Redeemer, my Treasure Thou art. High King of Heaven, my victory won! May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright Heav’n’s Sun! Heart of my own heart, whate’er befall Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all. Be thou my Light when I walk through the night. Set your minds on things above when you hear God’s Law The Ten Commandments “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again” (2 Corinthians 5:14). Confirmands, as you navigate through new challenges in life and as you grow in your faith, remember to set your minds on things above by keeping God’s law--the Ten Commandments. While these commandments continually show us our sin and our need for a Savior, in our walk of faith they also provide us with direction as we serve God and our neighbors.
