The invariance proposition is revisited with adaptations for win- maximizing sportsman owners facing an uncertain Champions League prize. Sportsman and champion effects have driven European football clubs to the edge of insolvency and polarized competition throughout Europe. Revenue revolutions and financial crises of the Big Five leagues are examined and estimates of competitive balance are compared. The European Super League completes the open-market solution after Bosman. A 30-team Super League is proposed based on the National Football League. In football everything is complicated by the presence of the opposite team. FSartre I Introduction The beauty of the world’s game of football lies in the dynamic balance of symbiotic competition. Since the English Premier League (EPL) broke away from the Football League in 1992, the EPL has effectively lost its competitive balance. The rebellion of the EPL coincided with a deeper media revolution as digital and pay-per-view technologies were delivered by satellite platform into the commercial television vacuum created by public television monopolies throughout Europe. EPL broadcast revenues have exploded 40-fold from h22 million in 1992 to h862 million in 2005 (33% CAGR). -

NEW CAGLIARI STADIUM Unipol acquires the stadium naming rights and becomes a partner in the project. The ten-year agreement also provides for title sponsorship of the current temporary structure to be called “Unipol Domus” starting this season. Cagliari, 23 July 2021 Cagliari Calcio and Unipol are delighted to announce a partnership whereby the insurance group will support the Cagliari football club as title sponsor of the new stadium. The agreement will last for ten years and start with the 2021/22 football season. Unipol will also be the title sponsor for the current “Sardegna Arena” temporary structure which will be renamed Unipol Domus until the new stadium is opened, when the title naming will then be decided. The partnership between Cagliari Calcio and Unipol Gruppo will help develop this important urban, sporting and social project, seek to enhance the value of the heritage and resources of the territory, encourage growth in economic and cultural terms and launch the world of Sardinian sport and entertainment onto the national and international sphere. Carlo Cimbri, Group CEO of Unipol Gruppo S.p.A. said “Our Group is particularly pleased to sponsor Cagliari Calcio in the naming of its current and future stadium, to support its ambitions and contribute towards the growth and successes of a legacy that includes sport and acts as a symbol of the identity of the city and Sardinia as a whole”. CALCIO E PARTITO COMUNISTA UNGHERESE PRIMA DELLA REPUBBLICA POPOLARE (1946-1948) Lorenzo Venuti, Università degli studi di Firenze, [email protected] Durante l’estate del 1946 la situazione ungherese era incerta, sotto molti punti di vista. Sul versante economico il paese si trovava alle prese con una difficile ricostruzione, fiaccata da una crisi inflazionistica senza precedenti1, mentre a livello politico la Allied Control Council (ACC), egemonizzata dai sovietici, aveva imposto il proseguo del governo di coalizione, malgrado le elezioni tenutesi nel novembre. Questo aveva permesso al MKP (Magyar Kommunista Párt, Partito comunista ungherese), di mantenere una posizione di rilievo nello scacchiere politico, malgrado il confronto elettorale avesse rappresentato una vera e propria débâcle, con il trionfo del FKG (Független Kisgazdapárt, Partito dei piccoli proprietari), partito conservatore, con oltre il 57% dei voti2. Il risultato politico era del resto derivato dalla scarsa simpatia di cui godeva il MKP all’interno del paese, figlio della traumatica esperienza della Repubblica dei Consigli di Béla Kun (1919), e dell’alta percentuale di ebrei presenti nella dirigenza del Partito3. Questa situazione spinse il MKP ad una nuova strategia, incentrata da un lato sul logoramento dell’avversario politico, attraverso il suo progressivo frazionamento (szalámitaktika), possibile grazie al monopolio comunista su polizia ed esercito4, e dall’altro preparandosi per le venture elezioni aumentando la simpatia verso il Partito con operazioni di natura culturale. Il calcio e lo sport avevano nel paese di Santo Stefano un forte ascendente sulle masse non politicizzate, e non sorprende che Mátyás Rákosi, segretario del Partito, pensò proprio al pallone di cuoio quale mezzo per dimostrare la buona gestione comunista5. -
