It examines factors influencing the social composition of schools. A total of 23 LEAs completed interviews about their secondary school admissions arrangements The four case study LEAs have significantly different market scenarios. Results show that recent national education policy has not been evenly implemented across LEAs. A combination of organizational, structural, and demographic factors have muted much of the potential impact of school reforms on school admissions. Normative patterns of school use have not been substantially affected by the market reforms or the administrative actions of LEAs. LEAs remain important arenas within which school choice operates because they define kinds of choice available to parents in their administrative boundaries.

Kings Langley Secondary School Application Pack: School Family Worker www.kls.herts.sch.uk Kings Langley School Application Pack Dear Candidate, A warm welcome and thank you for taking the time to express your interest in the role of the Family Support Worker at Kings Langley School. We are proud to be an inclusive, mixed comprehensive school of some 1100 students, successfully operating as a stand-alone academy whilst valuing collaborative relationships both locally and wider afield. We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated and well organised individual to join our friendly and highly successful support team. The school is determinedly committed to the development of “strong character” in order to provide students with the skills and moral fortitude to “make the right choices”. The extract below is written by Dr Tom Harrison from the University of Birmingham and forms part of his evaluation which awarded the school (the first in the UK) the award of National Character Kitemark Plus in June 2018. We are justifiably proud of our unique ethos and culture which attracts both national and international recognition. “It was clear it is the core mission of the school to do its part to develop values in its pupils that will help them flourish– and teachers and pupils were both able to link the development of character to moral development and wider societal flourishing.” –Dr Tom Harrison The professional and personal development of all staff is a key focus for the senior leadership team as we strive to build a school which aspires to the highest possible standards but not at the expense of personal well-being or happiness.

  • Dacorum Association of Secondary School Headteachers D.A.S.S.H
Dacorum Association of Secondary School Headteachers D.A.S.S.H. April 2021 Dear Parents/Carers Arrangements for the end of Year 11 and Year 13 courses You will be aware of the Department for Education’s decision about the awarding of this summer’s GCSE and A level grades. Following the cancellation of public exams, this year’s grades will be generated by teacher assessment. However, it is important to note that, in line with official guidance, each school will administer a rigorous system of moderation and quality assurance. This will include some Dacorum schools working together to facilitate the moderation process. Schools need to submit grades to the exam boards by 18th June and this date, therefore, informs the decision about ‘leaving dates’ for Year 11 and Year 13 students. All schools in our Dacorum group have agreed that these students will complete their studies at the May half term break, with a last day in school being either 27th or 28th May; each school will have its own particular arrangements for each year group. However, we would like to build in a cushion between the last day of school and the submission of exam grades. This may be useful if an individual student has missed an earlier assessment task and would provide an opportunity for that student to catch up. We would, therefore, ask that all students in Year 11 and Year 13 ensure they are available to come into their school during the period 7th - 18th June, should the need arise. Specific dates will be communicated by each school.
