Island hopping

Often associated with Phuket, are actually in . With stunning rock formations and clear turquoise waters, the islands have been the location for several major international film shoots including; The Beach; Bridget Jones’s Diary; Tomorrow Never Dies and The Man with the Golden Gun. Activities here range from snorkelling and scuba diving to rock climbing, hiking or simply relaxing on the beach. Phi Phi Don is famous for its festive atmosphere, and an excellent dining scene.

The larger and inhabited Phi Phi Don attracts hundreds of visitors to stay on its lovely shores while the smaller uninhabited Phi Phi Leh has stunningly beautiful bays and beaches, including world-famous Maya Bay, where the Leonardo de Caprio movie, The Beach was filmed.

Ao Nang is the major connecting point for boat trips to nearby islands and Railay Beach (Railay Bay). Around Ao Nang, there are Tuk Tuks and motorbike sidecar taxis (Sam Lor), which will take you to most places in the local vicinity.

Located just south of Ao Nang and accessible only by boat, Railay Beach (or Railay Bay) is one of ’s most sought-after beach areas. On this small peninsula, you’ll find gorgeous white sandy beaches with soaring limestone cliffs in the backdrop, viewpoints, caves and a hidden lagoon. Besides its beautiful Rock climb for a half day or just beach bum. This is a location for both adventure and pure relaxation. While there are limestone hills popular for hiking and rock climbing, the white sandy beach is perfect for swimming or simply relaxing.

Nestled in the crystal-clear water of the , Mu Koh Lanta National Park covers the islands of Koh Ngai, Koh Rok, Koh Ha and Koh Lanta. It features fine, white sandy beaches, limestone hills and lush forests. Koh Lanta is also a fantastic location for snorkelling and scuba diving.

For visitors who look for more local experiences, a small Muslim community on Koh Klang, less than 10 minutes by boat from Krabi town, has a lot of eco-tourism/ community based tourism activities on offer. While it is possible to do a day trip to Koh Klang, an overnight homestay will allow you more time to engage with the locals through DIY Batik fabric making, take part in long-tail boat model-making workshops, taste local style seafood, join the fishermen on their fishing boat ride, or observe their daily routines. Krabi also offers a lot of beautiful inland attractions, such as Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea), Khlong Thom hot springs and several wellness spas and cooking schools.
