At this point of the project we will increasingly dig down into the operational considerations of racing at Murray Bridge such as staffing, transport from boxes, broadcast logistics…the list goes on. Within that planning, we will need to give close consideration to the incorporation, composition and make-up of the new Committee, a discussion that has already commenced with much of the current Committee at Strathalbyn. It’s vital that we set the Club up for success, and the Committee will play a pivotal role in that respect. One of the key challenges that we face relates to determining the optimal weekly schedule of Sky Racing and trialling across all four of our TAB tracks once racing has commenced at Murray Bridge. A panel will shortly be formed to contribute their thoughts to that model. I’m happy to have my coat tugged in the meantime by anyone who wants to put forward their views regarding the key considerations which need to be accounted for in that discussion. That group will consist of a balanced mix of professionals and hobbyists, northerners and southerners (and some other parts of the compass), younger and….ahh….more experienced trainers. From GRSA’s perspective, that process will be driven by two key objectives – ease of participation for trainers and support of continued strong wagering outcomes – but there are a number of other factors that will also inevitably weigh in. There will be no perfect ‘one-size-fits-all’ schedule but rather a model which creates reasonable outcomes for participants at all levels in all regions and the opportunity for us to develop strong and functional Clubs. Industry Information and Engagement Sessions I’m pleased to say that, after a couple of false starts, this edition of Kennel Capers includes the ad for GRSA Industry Information and Engagement Sessions in early June which will be conducted at Gawler, Murray Bridge (venue to be determined) and Mt Gambier. I would encourage participants to make all reasonable efforts to attend one of these sessions. Each event will include strong representation from the Board and Management and attendees will be afforded ample opportunity for Q&A. The topics will be very much geared towards participant matters and will be light on for ‘preaching’. It will also be an opportunity for our Managers to speak on recent breeder support payments and pending stakemoney increases and how those changes will impact at the coalface of the sport. Please mark these dates in your calendar when they have been announced. Matt Corby CEO, Greyhound Racing SA An official publication of Greyhound Racing SA [email protected] NEWS More feature race success for Rasmussen team The Tony Rasmussen team claimed another feature race win at headquarters on 29th of March when Ashom Monelli claimed the third running of the $7,000 Easter Cup final.
