In August 2017 after acquiring the assets of AGRA and its key responsibility of coordinating the Group Racing Calendar, the new-look organisation known as the GCA was formed. GCA’s aim is to provide a well-reasoned and united voice on behalf of clubs, both city and country, big or small, to media, controlling authorities and government on issues of importance. We want to influence chief decision makers in areas such as animal welfare, reform, track design and safety, marketing and communication, issues of the day, as well as improving the effectiveness of the Group Racing Calendar. Establishes California Greyhound Racing Commission to license and regulate the conduct of greyhound races by qualified greyhound racing associations. Applicants for a first license shall pay a fifty thousand-dollar non-refundable application fee. Once issued, licenses shall automatically be renewable for three-year periods unless revoked for just cause. The pari-mutuel method of wagering shall be permitted on greyhound races. The Laurels final will be run on Saturday, October 18th and then seven days later the Kerry Agribusiness Irish St Leger will commence at Limerick. The Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Puppy Stake will be run at Limerick between March 28th and April 26th.
