    1.A. Detailed description of the research area and research plan Context of the proposal Biological invasions (bioinvasions) are defined as the successful establishment and spread of species outside their native range. They act as a major driver of global changes in species distribution. Diverse organisms and ecosystems may be involved, and although not all invasions have a negative impact, the ecological consequences often include the loss of native biological diversity and changes in community structure and ecosystem activity. There may also be additional negative effects on agriculture, forests, fisheries, and human health. National governments, intergovernmental structures like the European Commission and international organizations such as EPPO, CABI and IUCN have therefore mobilized to (i) introduce international laws on invasive species, (ii) organize international networks of scientists and stakeholders to study bioinvasions, and (iii) formalize the cooperation between national environmental or agricultural protection agencies (e.g. the French Agence Nationale de Sécurité Sanitaire, ANSES). Several billion euros are spent annually to address the problems caused by bioinvasions and the scientific community has focused on predicting and controlling future invasions by understanding how they occur. A peer-reviewed journal entitled "Biological Invasions” has been published since 1999. Ecologists have long drawn attention to the negative ecological effects of invasive species, whereas the evolutionary aspects of bioinvasions have received comparatively little attention. This reflects the fact that: i) invasive populations were thought to experience significant bottlenecks during their introduction to new environments and thus possess a limited potential to evolve; and ii) evolution was considered too slow to play a significant role given the relatively short timescale of the invasion process.

D. A. COCKERELL. In these serious days, it seems just a little grotesque that I should cross half a continent to address you on a subject so remote from the current of human life as fossil insects. The limitations of our society do indeed forbid such topics as the causes of the war or the evil effects of intercollegiate athletics; but I might have chosen to discuss lice or mosquitoes—any of those insects whose activities have before now decided the fate of nations. My excuse for avoiding these more lively topics only aggravates the offense, for it is the fact that I have never given them adequate attention, but have in the past ten years occupied myself with matters having for the most part no obvious economic application. There is, however, another point of view. Many years ago I had the good fortune to meet the eminent ornithologist, Elliott Coues, at Santa Fe. We spent a considerable part of the night discussing a variety of subjects, from spiritualism to rattlesnakes, and when we parted he made a remark which those who knew him will recognize as characteristic. He said, "Cockerell, I really believe that if it had not been for science, you would have been a dangerous crank!" Surely experience and history alike confirm the essential sagacity of the observa­ tion, as applied not merely to your lecturer, but to mankind in general.

Auf die bisher geleistete Arbeit kann der Verein sehr stolz sein. Seit 25 Jahren ist durch den Fußballsport und seit 1975 durch die Abteilung Frauenglmnastik eine Ab- wechslung in das Gemeindewesen gekommen. Durch den Bau eines Sportheimes wurde ein bleibendes Werk geschaffen, das sich sehen lassen kann. Auch konnten 3 Meisterschaften, 1983 Meister der C-Klasse Rockenhausen, 1985 und I 991 Meister der B-Klasse Rockenhausen, gefeiert werden. Man konnte zwei- mal in der A-Klasse Nord spielen, aber leider war es immer nur für ein Jahr. Gewon- nen wurde auch 1990 derKreispokal Rockenhausen. Beim Dank will ich einschließen alle lebenden und verstorbenen Kameraden, die in selbstloser Weise und mit viel persönlichem Einsatz das mitgestaltet haben, was wir heute als Selbstverständlichkeit betrachten. Zum Jubiläum beglückwünschen die SpielgemeinschaftGehrweilerderKreisausschuß, sowie alle Vereine des Fußballkreises Donnersberg und der Südwestdeutsche Fuß- ballverband. Methods: This report presents a case of female patient complaining of dysuria and frequency of micturition associated with intermittent passage of small, motile, dark-colored worm-like organisms in urine. She was a married housewife aged 24 years old referred from the Tropical Outpatient Clinic of Beni-Suef University Hospital, Egypt. The patient was subjected to a full questionnaire sheet and investigations such as CBC, stool and urine analysis and urinary ul- trasonography. Collected larvae and pupae from urine samples were examined macroscopically and microscopically. Results: The examined larvae and pupae belonged to C. albipunctata. Ivermectin was prescribed to the patient with complaint withdrawal and complete disappearance of the larvae from urine. Conclusion: This study reports the first case of urinary myiasis caused by C. albipunctata in Beni-Suef Governorate, the second in Egypt and third case worldwide. The study throws some light on the medical importance and manage- ment of urinary myiasis.
