LINDFIELD FC

What is Kanga Cup? Kanga Cup is the largest International Youth Football Tournament in the Southern Hemisphere. Held annually each July in and is a week-long event.

When is Kanga Cup? Kanga Cup 2021 will be held 4th to the 9th July. Teams generally arrive on the Sunday afternoon and leave on the Friday.

Who can enter?

Any team from U9’s to U18’s can enter if they are affiliated with the FFA. Because of the high standard in the competition, LFC promote the cup to SAP, SUPER LEAGUE and DIAMOND LEAGUE teams only. However, social teams can attend There are three levels of competition at Kanga. Due to the historically low number of entries in certain age groups, not all levels categories will be offered to every age group. Teams have to nominate into an appropriate level of competition for the age group.

• Cup Competition – Strong SL/DL/SAP A teams that can compete with rep sides • Plate Competition – Other SL/DL/SAP A teams • Shield Competition – Bs teams and other social teams

How much is it?

Payment can either be made at time of registration in full, or team members can make payments online for their component of the fees. The Team Manager can see who has paid, and who hasn’t. Parents are responsible for playing the entry cost.

LINDFIELD FC

Coaching Costs The club will try and provide a club coach for SAP/SL/DL and Dev squads that attend. We are asking the coaches to take a week out from their normal life so this is not always possible. Where the regular coach cannot attend, we will try and find some coach coverage for the team either by sharing a coach or finding an alternate.

The club will fund accommodation, travel and provide a daily payment for the coaches (to cover expenses and match time). Parents are free to provide a thankyou gift, pay for a dinner for the coach in addition if they choose.

This cost of the coach will be invoiced to the team as part of the final coaching invoice. The cost will be approx. $100-150 per player.

How do we sign up? 1. Managers of SAP, Super League and Diamond League will ask their teams who would like to attend so they can confirm numbers and see how many teams can be formed 2. Managers will update Age Coordinators so that LFC can keep the attending teams updated, complete paperwork from the LFC end and also allocate coaches where possible. 3. Managers then register their teams – this will be available from mid April on the Kanga Cup website https://kangacup.com 4. May 21: Team registrations close & deposits due

Thoughts on Kanga Cup from Jann Laforest (previous attendee)

The Kanga Cup is an awesome event held during the July holidays with 5 days of great football. It is well organised and well worth the drive to Canberra. It has a balanced program of games and leisure time. The trip is not only fun for the players, Parents and siblings can visit Canberra’s many activities on offer.

Teams can be made up of players from different LFC teams and any registered players from other club (up to 3 players only from another club, no limit for merged LFC teams) e.g. a combo team of A and B players with a goalie playing 2 years up.
