ABSTRACT The new subspecies Dermestes (Dermestinus) szekessyi kazakh ssp. nov. from East Kazakhstan is described, illustrated and compared with the nominotypical subspecies. A list of Dermestes species recorded from Kazakhstan is provided. 1. INTRODUCTION The family Dermestidae (Coleoptera: Bostrichoidea) currently contains about 1600 species and subspecies worldwide (Háva 2015, 2018). The genus Dermestes Linnaeus, 1758 has been divided into 4 subgenera, Dermalius Háva, 2001, Dermestinus Zhantiev, 1967, Dermestes (s. str.) and Montandonia Jacquet, 1886 and currently contains 92 species and subspecies worldwide (HÁVA 2015). Nineteen species are known from Kazakhstan (MROCZKOWSKI 1962, SOKOLOV, 1972, ZHANTIEV 1976, HÁVA & LEGALOV 2010, NAKLÁDAL & HÁVA 2015, HÁVA 2015). In the presented paper a new subspecies is described from Kazakhstan. 2. MATERIAL AND METHODS The size of the beetles or their body parts can be useful in species identification and thus, the following measurements were made: TL: Total length - linear distance from anterior pronotal margin to elytral apex. EW: Elytral width - maximum linear transverse distance of elytra. The material examined and type material included in the present study are deposited in the following collection: JHAC: Private Entomological Laboratory & Collection, Únětice u Prahy, Prague- West, Czech Republic. The nomenclature and zoogeography follow the catalogue by HÁVA (2015). doi: 10.29077/bol/113/ce04_hava ISSN: 2659-2703 -29- J. HÁVA 3. RESULTS Dermestes (Dermestinus) szekessyi szekessyi Kalík, 1950 (Figure 1) Material examined: Kazakhstan, Tarbagataj Mts., Urdzhar env., 1200-1500 m, 13-20.6.1996, Plutěnko lgt., 1 ♂, 1 ♀, (JHAC); „Kazakh SSR [Kazakhstan], Bilikol, 12.6.1982, Jelínek lgt.“, 1 ♂, (JHAC); Kazakhstan W., Janybek, 15.4.1996, V. Perepel lgt., 1 ♂, (JHAC). Distribution: A species known from Europe, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia (HÁVA, 2015). The species was recorded from west and central Kazakhstan by MROCZKOWSKI (1962), SOKOLOV (1972) and ZHANTIEV (1976). Dermestes (Dermestinus) szekessyi kazakh ssp. nov. (Figures 2-3) Type material; Holotype (♀):Vost. [East] Kazachstan, zap. otrogi Narymskogo chr. [Katon-Karagay Raion, Narymskiy Khrebet], dol. r. Kanidy, 10-15 km Slavjanka, stepe, 5-6.5.1999“, (JHAC). Description: Female. Body dark brown to black, oval, convex, covered by recumbent, yellowish-grey setation (Figure 2). Body measurements (in mm): TL 7.3, EW 3.2. Head finely punctured, antennae reddish-brown, with 11 antennomeres, antennal club distinct, with 3 antennomeres. Palpi brown. Forehead without ocellus. Pronotum black, finely punctured, covered by intermixed yellow and grey setation. Scutellum triangular with yellowish- Figs. 1-3. Abdominal visible ventrites black, covered by white setation, ventrite II-IV with small black spots laterally, abdominal ventrite V black, with two small, white, spots and yellow setation apically (Figure 3). Legs black, covered by yellowish setation and with dark brown spines laterally; femora with white, broad fasciae. Male: Unknown. Differential diagnosis: The new subspecies differs from the nominotypical one by the yellowish-grey elytral setation without spots (Figure 2) and intermixed yellow and white pronotal setation; the nominotypical specimens has a small yellowish spot on each elytron (Figure 1), and pronotum covered by yellow and brown setation. The similar species D. coronatus Steven in Schönherr, 1808 differs from the new subspecies by its large white pronotal area and femora without white fasciae. Distribution: East Kazakhstan: Narymskiy Khrebet. Etymology: Toponymy, kazakh -named according to the name of the country- Kazakhstan. -30- Comunicaciones especializadas DERMESTES (DERMESTINUS) SZEKESSYI KAZAKH SSP. NOV. 4.
