Blue Venture Diving Brochure Tulamben & Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia Diving in Bali The diving (min. 2 people) The diving in Bali is an exceptional experience for all levels of divers. From protected shallow bays with exotic and rare fish species to exciting drift diving in stronger currents with sharks, Mola Mola and manta rays, Bali has it all. The diving is concentrated on the Northeast coast of the island and around the islands of Nusa Penida. Nusa Penida is famous for big marine life and the seasonal Oceanic Sunfish, also known as Mola Mola, coming in to get cleaned on the reefs. Bali has an amazing diversity of marine life and great variety of walk-in dive sites around Tulamben. From the stunning macro sites to the famous wreck USAT Liberty, just off the beach! If you want boat diving, bigger animals and a bit more adrenalin, you should dive the area around Nusa Penida. If you want relaxed beach Area name / Island name diving and the rare and odd marine life, you should dive Tulamben. If Tulamben & Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia you want it all, dive both. You can party hard at night and surf the waves during the day in Kuta area. Experience ultimate relaxation and cultural knowledge in the highland. Or you can kick back and forget the world around you on atmospheric beach resorts with good diving a few steps from your bungalow on the Northeast coast. Your resort will be your comfortable new home. It is important with good rest after diving. By checking you in on cozy hotels and atmospheric beach bungalows, the Bali experience and your diving course is complete. During this course you will spend 3 days staying at a deluxe room in the South in Legian and 1 night on the Northeast coast in Tulamben on a beach resort. Breakfast is included and served at the resort. Your room will have air-con and hot shower for your convenience. At the resort in Tulamben, you will have just a few meters to the beach. The beach is a black beach made of volcanic rock. This is very different from the normal sand beaches, but a cool alternative. It is quite impressive both above and especially below the surface! Tulamben & Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia Diving in Bali This is only a selection of the many dive sites represented on this destination. No dive sites can be guaranteed since diving is dictated by the environment. Tulamben Beach The beach is fist-sized black volcanic rocks that become sand in Conditions the shallows. Mimpang, Tepekong and Biaha Mimpang, Tepekong and Biaha are all surrounded by remarkably healthy reefs - starting deep. You'll find a vast number and great diversity of fish, abundant sharks and frequent pelagic visitors set against a backdrop of craggy black walls with beautiful, healthy corals and often superb visibility. The water can be cold due to the currents from the deep basin 100km south of Bali. This upwelling brings with it some of the marinelife for which this area is famous (schooling Pelagics and Mola-Mola). Wednesday August 3rd We picked up our guest from Senggigi and brought them to the boat in the late morning. We accommodated the guests in their cabins, set all the gear and made our way to Gili Islands. We picked up 2 of our guests in Gili Trawangan and after diving briefing we started our first dive. We started our first dive of our trip at Sea Fan Coral Garden. During this dive we found 2 cuttle fish, commensal shrimp, tiny crinoid crab and schooling of neon fusiliers. From place to place we saw nice big gorgonian sea fans. During the second part of the dive we stayed at shallow reef and spotted swimming moray eel. Visibility was reaching 15 m. and there was a mild current. Our chef prepared lunch lunch and moved to south of Gili Trawangan where we dove at Trawangan Slope. This time swell raised and we jumped away on 15 m. depth. At the very beginning we spotted a turtle and red mantis shrimp. At the second part of the dive we saw puffer fish, sweet lips fish and many bat fish.

However, severe coastal erosion in some parts of the area has threaten the industry. Unsuccessful mitigation measures have been carried out by authorities by constructing seawalls along the coastline. The objective of the study is to understand the physical processes related to coastal erosion in the area and to assess the effectiveness of seawall along the coastline. To achieve the objectives, a GIS approach was carried out to investigate general changes of the coastline since 1944 until 2013. Hydrodynamics analyses and sediment transport simulations were also conducted and validated by the data from field measurements. The role of Mount Agung (a volcanic mountain) to the coastal dynamic system was also investigated. Moreover, the data from cGPS measurements in the island were also used for the analysis of possible land subsidence in the area. From social aspects, the history of USAT Liberty Shipwreck in Tulamben Village supports the analyses and provides information on the evolution of coastline in the area.

It is among the most popular dive sites on Bali since the wreck of the Liberty, a US Army Transport ship torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in 1942 lies just offshore. The wreck lies in shallow water and is considered appropriate for divers of all certification levels. The ship rests in 30 metres of water, is roughly 25 metres from shore and can be reached with a short swim from the beach. The highest point of the wreck tops out about 5 metres from the surface. The ship was torpedoed by the Japanese off the nearby Island of Lombok and the ship was towed to the beach at Tulamben for salvage operations. The 1963 eruption of Mt. Agung, which devastated much of the eastern side of Bali, drove the ship into the water just offshore, where it became encrusted with coral and a home to other sea life.
