False Vacationer in EKKM 27 April till 16 June Sigrid Viir, False Vacationer (2019) From 27 April till 16 June a solo show “False Vacationer” by Sigrid Viir will be on view at the Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia (EKKM). Curator of the exhibition is Maarin Mürk. The name of the exhibition comes from the Roland Barthes essay The Writer on Holiday, in which he looked at writers as the bourgeoisie might see them – as false workers, who by the same token can only be false holiday-makers as well, who can be spotted reading a book even when they’re lazing on the beach. -

Association for Postal Commerce
Association for Postal Commerce "Representing those who use or support the use of mail for Business Communication and Commerce" "You will be able to enjoy only those postal rights you believe are worth defending." 1800 Diagonal Rd., Ste 320 * Alexandria, VA 22314-2862 * Ph.: +1 703 524 0096 * Fax: +1 703 997 2414 Postal News for May 2013 May 31, 2013 Post & Parcel: Post Danmark suffered a massive IT network failure on Wednesday, which took out its track and trace system. The national postal operator in Denmark said the disruption to its communications systems also meant that customers were unable to contact customer service regarding their inability to track their packages. Despite the problems, the company insisted yesterday that it is now back to delivering letters and parcels on time. Post & Parcel: PostNL will be increasing its prices from the beginning of August, with the basic rate for a domestic letter rising 11% to 60c. The Dutch postal service said the rate increases are necessary to counter the impacts of the country’s 8-10% annual decline in mail volumes. Letters going to European destinations will see rates rise to 96c, while letters going to the rest of the world will be charged at EUR 1. Business rates will also increase from 1st August, the company said. The basic rate for franked mail will be EUR 0.52. Despite beginning a “rigorous” series of restructuring effort and cost-saving plans, PostNL said its universal postal service is loss- making as a result of the large volume declines, while it continues to meet its obligation to guarantee mail delivery within 24 hours and maintain networks of 2,000 post offices and 15,000 mailboxes. -

What Remains History and Locations of World Fairs
WHAT REMAINS HISTORY AND LOCATIONS OF WORLD FAIRS This is a chronological list of exhibitions and fairs held throughout the world that gained international attention. A few regional fairs are included if they were significant to the author or for showcasing emerging technology. This list is a compilation from various sources, trying to respect the capitalization traditions from the countries of origin. When controversy arises about the date or name of a fair (should the 1849 fair held in Birmingham, United Kingdom be referred to as “Exhibition of Industrial Arts and Manufacturers” or “Exposition of British Society”) a choice has been made so the checklist remains an index of fairs. Brown text indicates that the fair occurred before the Bureau international des expositions (BIE) on November 22, 1928 or was not sanctioned by them. Purple text also shows the fair was not sanctioned, but indicates there is a link to additional information researched by the author. Black text indicates a BIE sanctioned fair. Blue text indicates a link to additional information about a sanctioned fair. 1790's 1791 Prague, Bohemia; First Industrial Exhibition 1798 Paris, France; L'Exposition publique des produits de l'industrie française 1800's 1801 Paris, France; L'Exposition publique des produits de l'industrie française (Second Exposition) 1802 Paris, France; L'Exposition publique des produits de l'industrie française (Third Exposition) 1806 Paris, France; L'Exposition publique des produits de l'industrie française (Fourth Exposition) 1810's 1819 Paris, -

The author is a free-lance researcher in the life and works of the Roerich family. Key words Nicholas Roerich, Baltic Exhibition of 1914, Gummeson Gallery.
