MHSAA Golf App: All schools, Coaches, and Players must download and register using the MHSAA Golf app by iWanamaker. This app will be the official scoring app for the MHSAA golf tournament.

Format/Pairings: competition conducted over 18 holes with a shotgun start. The pairing will be in Team Waves. Each team may play five (5) but count only four (4). Schools are requested not to register any golfer who has a 9-hole average of 60 or more.

Scoring Procedures: All players in a group are required to keep a hole by hole score for all members of the group and themselves. A “Master Scorecard” will also be kept by one player in the group. All players in the group MUST remain in the scoring area after cards are submitted and signed until scores are posted and confirmed.

Spectator Admission Fee: No admission fee will be charged to spectators.

Range Assignments: Will be designated onsite for all teams.

Athletic Trainer: A certified athletic trainer will NOT be onsite. The tournament manager should be notified immediately in the event of an injury.

Entry Fee: Entry fee is $225 per school (or $45 per student) payable to The Orchards. The fee includes golf, lunch for each competing athlete and rostered coach. Greens fees are payable upon check-in or mailed directly to THE ORCHARDS prior to the date of the tournament.

Entries: Entry consists of Roster (including Avg. team score and ranking of players, Master Eligibility form and greens fees. All entry materials are due by May 12, 2021 at 4pm. Incomplete entries are subject to an MHSAA late fee of $50. Assigned schools may “opt-out” by completing the MHSAA opt-out form and sending it to De La Salle prior to the entry deadline.

Awards: Team championship trophy will be awarded as well as five team champion member medals. The top five scorers will also be awarded individual medals. Medals are not necessarily awarded to all individual qualifiers.

Course Description: The Orchards is an 18-hole championship daily fee course with a of 72. From the blue (tournament) the course measures 6487 yards with a course rating of 71.8 and slope rating of 137.

Local Rules Local course rules including out of bounds areas, ground under repair, obstructions and drop zones will be covered at the coaches meeting prior to the start of play.

Practice: times may be made for practice rounds by calling The Orchards directly.

Attire/: Proper golf attire is required. Shirts must have a collar or mock turtleneck designed for golf attire. Caddies are NOT permitted.

Coaching Privileges: The ONE designated school coach with proper lanyard will be allowed to coach players from his/her school team during play anytime during play except when the coach’s player has physically reached the green. Coaches may not call rules violations or assess penalties, but are encouraged to remind players and rules officials of possible rules violations or penalties when they occur, and/ or assist in preventing any such rules violation.

Carts: Athletes will be expected to walk the course. One complimentary cart rental is available per team designated coach. Athletes may rent a cart with written medical permission from a physician. Carts are not available to any spectator. Please contact The Orchards at least one day in advance of the tournament.

MHSAA Regulations: MHSAA prohibits the use of any alcohol or tobacco products at the tournament site. Players are also prohibited from soliciting play advice from spectators. Distance-ONLY finders are permitted. Cell phone communication are prohibited.

Rules Committee: The rules committee will consist of the tournament managers Dennis Parks and Doug McKay as well as MHSAA officials Mike Church and Gene Mahon. The committee will determine penalties for playing rules violations, MHSAA sportsmanship violations and make final decisions on any and all disputes. Inclement Weather: In case of inclement weather, all teams must arrive at the course on June 3. The tournament will be delayed as long as possible. Friday, June 4 will be the tournament contingency date at a time set by the tournament manager.

Tiebreaker – Team: A tiebreaker, if needed, will be used to determine the 1st place team and the 3rd place team. The first tiebreak method will be to compare the 5th golfers score. The second tiebreak method will be to return each fivesome to the course for a sudden victory (aggregate score) at a hole designated by the manager.

Tiebreaker – Individual: A tiebreaker, if needed, will be used to determine the medalist and the final advancement place. Individuals will return to the course for a sudden victory playoff at a hole designated by the manager.

Tourn. Advancement: The top three (3) teams and the top three individuals, not on one of the qualifying teams, will advance to the MHSAA Division 1 Final Tournament at Forest Akers West at Michigan State University June 11 - 12

Teams are grouped by average 18-hole regular season team score, then players are placed based on ranking within team.

1) Team waves will be used for all levels of the MHSAA tournament. 2) Prior to the Regional tournament, each coach will rank order the teams five probable golfers (substitutions can be made up to 30 minutes prior to tee-time). The coach will ALSO submit his team's average 18-hole team score prior to the Regional tournament. 3) The five players from the best four teams (according to average 18-hole team score) will play in the first 5 groups. The next five groups will be made up of the 5 players from the next four teams, and so on until players from all teams have been placed in groups. 4) The #1 golfer from each of the top four teams constitutes the first group. The #2 goiters play in the second group, and so on until the first 5 are filled. The #1 golfer from the next four best teams constitute group #6. Continue this pattern until players from all teams have been placed. 5) After all team members have been grouped, place the individual players next. The Tournament manager may place the groups of Individuals at a starting whole of his/her discretion (before the first team wave, between waves, or after all team waves). 6) Use a shotgun start and place the top group on starting hole #1, group two on #18, group three on #17, etc.

STEP #2: Place the teams with the best four 18-hole team score average in the first five groups. Foursomes are based on the coach's rank order of players. After the first four teams are grouped, place the next four teams. Finish by placing all those competing as individuals.
