Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf Fact Sheet Waikoloa Beach Golf Course ¾ Opened in July, 1981 ¾ Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. ¾ This par 70 Resort Style course measuring 6,566 yards offers challenges to all levels of play. ¾ The course is characterized by manicured emerald green fairways carved through ancient lava fields. ¾ The 12th hole is one of the most picturesque holes in Hawaii as it reveals dramatic vistas of the golf course, the lava rocks and the stunning Pacific Ocean. Waikoloa Kings’ Golf Course ¾ Opened in February, 1990 ¾ Designed by golfing great Tom Weiskopf and Jay Moorish. ¾ Voted one of the “Best New Resort Courses in America” the year it opened by Golf Digest Magazine. ¾ This par 72 Championship golf course is worthy of hosting any major event in golf. The beauty of the course is that it has 4 sets of tees for golfers to choose from. The shortest being the forward tees which measure 5,459 yards, to the longest being the Kings’ Tees which measure 7,074 yards. ¾ The Kings’ Course is characterized as a golf course designed in the finest of Scottish traditions. The course’s double green which is used by both, the 3rd and 6th holes, its deep bunkering system, and its two “drive-able” Par 4 holes are design characteristics usually found only in Scotland. ¾ The “drive-able” Par 4, 5th hole, and the dramatic Par 5, 18th hole, are the most photographed holes on the course. Parker, then a 19-year old UCLA college golfer, shot a 28-31=59 to break the previous course record of 63 set by Isao Aoki in 1982. ¾ Tom Weiskopf, the former golfing great and the designer of the Kings’ Course has described the Kings’ Course as “a second shot course, much like Augusta National. Your tee shot dictates the difficulty of your second shot.” ¾ The topsoil imported to create the Kings’ Course was equivalent to 21 miles of Semi Trucks filled with topsoil, bumper to bumper, from downtown Los Angeles to San Diego. Amenities ¾ Each player will be provided: personalized metal bag tag, one bottle of Hawaiian water and complimentary use of the practice facility on the day of play.
