The runs will take place between April and October in Sunderland, London, Brighton & Hove, Worcester, Cardiff, Norwich and Bristol. Go Dad Run was founded in 2013 by former World, European and Commonwealth 110m hurdles champion, world record holder and Olympic silver medallist Colin Jackson, as an exciting new event for men and boys to raise awareness of men’s health issues and money for Prostate Cancer UK. Inspired by the amazing success of Race For Life, and having witnessed the devastating effects of prostate cancer on the lives of two of his uncles, Colin created the Go Dad Run project to focus on men’s health issues. The runs are for ALL men and boys. Dads, sons, brothers, step-dads, friends, cousins, grandads, partners, friends, work colleagues and neighbours can take part but we also need their mums, daughters, sisters, wives and girlfriends to encourage them to sign up and be there to cheer them on the day! The 2017 Go Dad Runs In 2017 there are seven Go Dad Run events. All take place on Sunday mornings Sunderland: April 2nd at the Silksworth Sports Centre. National Charity Partner Prostate Cancer UK remains our lead charity as they inspired Colin to create the project after two of his uncles developed the illness and, sadly, only one survived. A percentage of each runner fee will go to PCUK and their logo will be on the runner T-shirts and Y-fronts. National Charity Partners Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer research charity. Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK and second biggest cancer killer. However, it is treatable and curable, especially if diagnosed early. The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.
