From the Canberra Comedy Festival team Tim, Paddy, Benjamin, James & Dave Welcome It is a pleasure to welcome you to the 2014 Canberra Comedy Festival. Canberrans demonstrated their appetite for live comedy with sold out shows during the inaugural Canberra Comedy Festival in 2013. This year, the Festival has expanded its program to deliver another world-class comedy event for Canberra. Comedy festivals are popular in all capital cities across Australia, and Canberra now boasts its very own. Not only is the Festival great fun for audiences, it brings visitors to the city and boosts our economy, and also provides opportunities for local comedians to develop and present shows, perform with big-name acts, and gain invaluable experience in the production of comedy shows. The ACT Government is proud to support the Canberra Comedy Festival. The Festival adds to the Territory’s diverse arts and entertainment calendar, and contributes to the rich social fabric we have in the city. I hope to share a laugh or three with you in March. Tim Ferguson Interview Interview transcript Date: April 1 2020 Audio Length: 00:17:32 Interviewer: Roland Naufal (Director, DSC), Nicole Rogerson Start of Audio Nicole Rogerson Thank you everyone so much for Joining us today at DSC. My name is Nicole Rogerson and I'm here with Roland Naufal. And we are interviewing the absolutely fabulous comedian, Tim Ferguson as part of our, I don't know, COVID Home Delivery video messages. Roland Naufal Welcome Tim. Tim Ferguson Hey. Welcome everybody. Thanks Roland and it's great to see you again Nicole and thanks Evie for standing by. Just sit there and be millennial for a while, Just relax. Nicole Rogerson Evie's the only person that when I told about the option for, I kind of make you look better video screener said she didn't need it. I thought that was an ageist, but anyway, I digress. Let's get into the interview. Roland Naufal So I've got the first question Tim. I saw you speak at a gig a couple of years ago. And as a comedian that is now treading into the disability space and the disability sector has, it reaches the high point of political correctness as you know at times. Do you find yourself editing yourself, changing your humour to fit into disability or Just stuff them and get on with it? Tim Ferguson Well, not really Roland, mainly because the great thing about people with disabilities is, you know, most of us have already made the Jokes. It's usually the other people who are like, oh, should I, should I say, or they'll meet me, and then afterwards they go, oh no, I can't believe I was saying, I will Interview with Tim Ferguson (1 April 2020) not stand for that, when he's in a wheelchair, he's in a wheelchair, it's like I'm in a wheelchair, I'm over it.

  • WDAM Radio's History of Elvis Presley
Listeners Guide To WDAM Radio’s History of Elvis Presley This is the most comprehensive collection ever assembled of Elvis Presley’s “charted” hit singles, including the original versions of songs he covered, as well as other artists’ hit covers of songs first recorded by Elvis plus songs parodying, saluting, or just mentioning Elvis! More than a decade in the making and an ongoing work-in-progress for the coming decades, this collection includes many WDAM Radio exclusives – songs you likely will not find anywhere else on this planet. Some of these, such as the original version of Muss I Denn (later recorded by Elvis as Wooden Heart) and Liebestraum No. 3 later recorded by Elvis as Today, Tomorrow And Forever) were provided by academicians, scholars, and collectors from cylinders or 78s known to be the only copies in the world. Once they heard about this WDAM Radio project, they graciously donated dubs for this archive – with the caveat that they would never be duplicated for commercial use and restricted only to musicologists and scholarly purposes. This collection is divided into four parts: (1) All of Elvis Presley’s charted U S singles hits in chronological order – (2) All of Elvis Presley’s charted U S and U K singles, the original versions of these songs by other artists, and hit versions by other artists of songs that Elvis Presley recorded first or had a cover hit – in chronological order, along with relevant parody/answer tunes – (3) Songs parodying, saluting, or just mentioning Elvis Presley – mostly, but not all in chronological order – and (4) X-rated or “adult-themed” songs parodying, saluting, or just mentioning Elvis Presley.

OUR STRAIGHT MATES BY MATTHEW MYERS From The Doug Anthony All Stars to writer, teacher, artist, director and producer, Tim Ferguson is back with a new show. DNA: Tell us about your new show A Fast Life On Wheels. Tim Ferguson: It’s autobiographical but, like all creative projects, veers off into unexpected alleys, from ancient Egypt all the way to my birth and the present day. A lot of the things we’re dealing with, such as Trump, all started with the pyramids. They were the first inklings that people were getting organized, so the trouble all started there. The show’s about celebrating a lack of organisation! I’ve been to gay bars but most of the time I don’t get hit on. Despite the rumours, gay men tend to be quite shy… Your book Carry A Big Stick and documentary Tick Fucking Tock brought your Multiple WARTS, Sclerosis to everyone’s attention. Do you think people have a good understanding of MS? I think people are pretty aware of MS, but one thing concerning all people with disabilities is that employment levels are dismal. That’s everything from Down Syndrome to Multiple WHEELS Sclerosis to acquired injuries. People with a disability are perfectly capable of doing stuff, like the Paralympics, for example. If they can play tennis or enter diving competitions, they can work in people’s stores. Research has shown that IWD (Individuals With Disabilities) AND ALL! turn up on time, stay late and don’t bitch and moan.
