10 Comedians for $20 2017 Program Sydney’s Premium Pub & Club Comedy Shows 10 COMEDIANS FOR $20 2017 PROGRAM A DIFFERENT LINE-UP OF COMEDIANS EVERY SHOW! www.10Comedians.com.au 10 Comedians Welcome to our ‘10 Comedians’ show! We put together the first ‘10 Comedians’ shows for the 2015 Sydney Fringe Festival. The response was astonishing: shows sold out online days before they opened. Dozens of people hoping to get tickets at the door were turned away. Audience members came up to the comedians individually after the show to thank them for such a great show – some offering to buy comedians drinks as an extra ‘thank you’! Lots of audience members left positive comments on our website, tweeted and/or posted on Facebook about the show. So in 2016 we decided to grow the roster of comedians and take this show on the road. Every ‘10 Comedians’ show is different – we currently have a roster of over 30 comedians who all have multiple sets, so even if you see the same comedian twice occasionally, you will see him/her doing different material. No two ‘10 Comedians’ shows are the same. Please help us continue to make the shows even better: ‘vote’ for your favourite comedians by liking them on Facebook and following them on Twitter and Instagram. We really hope you enjoy laughing with us tonight and at more of our shows in the near future! Sean Morahan Producer 10 Comedians Shows Great value! Better than the comedy store! -Amy, Paddington Great show, loved the political references, finale was phenomenal, my favourite act for sure… Overall, a great show. -Suraj, Redfern I’ve been to four 10 Comedians shows and always find them to be a laugh out loud kind of night and a great variety of talent every time! The shows are at good venues with great food and drink options. Always an awesome night out! -Joanne, Quakers Hill 2 For show updates, invitations and special offers: Text COMEDY to 0422 177 000 Sally Kimpton Sally Kimpton delights with stand-up that’s clever, edgy and hilarious! She was a quarter finalist in NBC’s ‘Last Comic Standing’ filmed at the Miami Improv in 2008. She has also been spotted on Network TEN’s ‘Thursday Night Live’ and Channel 7’s ‘Today Tonight’ (don’t ask!) Energetic and apologetic, Te will reveal why an ex-elite swimmer has found comedy to be the best way of washing away the sins of the past, and has no problem sharing them with you (generally). Te recently conceived, co-wrote and produced the live comedy quiz show ‘Big Poppa Sean’s Comedy Quiz’ and is busy promoting it around town. Te is also a regular guest and presenter on 2SER FM’s Saturday talk show ‘The Vultures’ Nest’. Twitter: twitter.com/tetaite Sean Morahan Sean is a comedian and writer, physically based in Sydney and mentally based nowhere in particular. Jaded by the unrelenting and excruciating highs of working as a car salesman, private investigator and builder’s labourer, Sean yearned for the sombre drudgery of making people laugh for a living, without offering them a trade-in price, showing them photos of their spouse’s new lover or falling off a building site. So, in 2013 he staggered onto Australia’s comedy stages and has remained there despite the persistent crowbars, baseball bats and the pleas for him to go home. - Cumulative star rating from 5 different reviews* He has performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and Sydney Fringe Festival. Initially starting out as a comedian, he quickly progressed, developing a taste for producing and directing shows. By the age of 21 Ruven had written, produced and directed over 5 shows in the NZ International Comedy Festival. In addition to comedy, Ruven has had regular TV appearances. Currently, Ruven runs several comedy rooms in Sydney alongside his comedic colleagues in their comedy promotions business Laugh Mob. Ruven recently accepted an invitation to present at TEDx at Macquarie University. Ray has performed internationally, interstate and even in a public toilet. Please don’t take that last venue as an indication of the quality of his comedy. Most people would agree that Thao’s comedy is dry, self deprecating and often politically incorrect. Well, they would if they weren’t so busy laughing. In 2015, Thao won three comedy awards. and she has been touring the country with her first Solo show, Appropriately Inappropriate. As well as performing all over Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra, Thao has also performed at the Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Utilising her acting skills and her public speaking skills she has quickly become a refreshing new voice hitting the comedy scene taking the PC out of stand-uP Comedy! Facebook: justcomedy.org/thaofb Twitter: twitter.com/Thao_Thanh_Cao Ben Willshaw Ben Willshaw is a Western Sydney comedian who has grown up on the sunny streets of Penny Bay or, as pronounced by the locals in their native tongue, Penriff! Ben has been performing comedy for over 4 years and has made a big impact performing at Sydney’s leading comedy venues. In 2015 Ben wrote and performed his first solo show ‘Sticks & Stones’ and in a great indicator of the appeal of his comedy, the show sold out during its run at the Sydney Fringe Festival. Ben’s humour consists of self-deprecating comedy (and sometimes a bit of audience-deprecating comedy) along with over-the-top stories about events and experiences in his day to day life. Ben also likes to add a touch of crude humour to his material to cater to the inner westie in all of us, resulting in audience members laughing at topics that would normally be left unsaid. When not performing at Sydney’s premier comedy venues, Ben also performs at charity events and weddings as an MC. He has been performing stand-up/ improv and sketch comedy around the world for the past seven years. He has performed in countless shows all over North America, he appeared on Jay Leno’s ‘Tonight Show’ and in Australia David has performed solo Improv shows at the Adelaide Fringe and Sydney Fringe. David now splits his time between Sydney and Melbourne and no matter which city you catch him in, he’ll be doing all sorts of improvised experimental weirdness. Born in Perth, raised in Queensland and matured in Melbourne, Justin is an outcast no matter where he goes, which underpins his hilariously skewed perspective on the world around him as he tells tales of love, loss, and life through the twisted lens of over-confident self-doubt. In the four years he has been performing, he has already notched up over 200 gigs, including his first solo shows in the 2015 Sydney Fringe Festival, #Porky4PM As well as performing comedy, Justin coaches new comedians and runs a free open mic comedy room: Crown Comedy in Lewisham every Thursday. Nicole Rogerson Evie's the only person that when I told about the option for, I kind of make you look better video screener said she didn't need it. I thought that was an ageist, but anyway, I digress. Let's get into the interview. Roland Naufal So I've got the first question Tim. I saw you speak at a gig a couple of years ago. And as a comedian that is now treading into the disability space and the disability sector has, it reaches the high point of political correctness as you know at times. Do you find yourself editing yourself, changing your humour to fit into disability or Just stuff them and get on with it? Tim Ferguson Well, not really Roland, mainly because the great thing about people with disabilities is, you know, most of us have already made the Jokes. It's usually the other people who are like, oh, should I, should I say, or they'll meet me, and then afterwards they go, oh no, I can't believe I was saying, I will Interview with Tim Ferguson (1 April 2020) not stand for that, when he's in a wheelchair, he's in a wheelchair, it's like I'm in a wheelchair, I'm over it.

  • WDAM Radio's History of Elvis Presley
Listeners Guide To WDAM Radio’s History of Elvis Presley This is the most comprehensive collection ever assembled of Elvis Presley’s “charted” hit singles, including the original versions of songs he covered, as well as other artists’ hit covers of songs first recorded by Elvis plus songs parodying, saluting, or just mentioning Elvis! More than a decade in the making and an ongoing work-in-progress for the coming decades, this collection includes many WDAM Radio exclusives – songs you likely will not find anywhere else on this planet. Some of these, such as the original version of Muss I Denn (later recorded by Elvis as Wooden Heart) and Liebestraum No. 3 later recorded by Elvis as Today, Tomorrow And Forever) were provided by academicians, scholars, and collectors from cylinders or 78s known to be the only copies in the world. Once they heard about this WDAM Radio project, they graciously donated dubs for this archive – with the caveat that they would never be duplicated for commercial use and restricted only to musicologists and scholarly purposes. This collection is divided into four parts: (1) All of Elvis Presley’s charted U S singles hits in chronological order – (2) All of Elvis Presley’s charted U S and U K singles, the original versions of these songs by other artists, and hit versions by other artists of songs that Elvis Presley recorded first or had a cover hit – in chronological order, along with relevant parody/answer tunes – (3) Songs parodying, saluting, or just mentioning Elvis Presley – mostly, but not all in chronological order – and (4) X-rated or “adult-themed” songs parodying, saluting, or just mentioning Elvis Presley.

Since the farewell tour, Colin has toured to cabaret and comedy festivals around Australia, most notably teaming up with the hilarious David Collins from The Umbilical Brothers to tackle Gilbert and Sullivan in The 3 Mikados. Colin has been a regular on a wide variety of Aussie TV shows, including Spicks and Specks, Ready Steady Cook, The Circle, Good News Week & The Project. OUR STRAIGHT MATES BY MATTHEW MYERS From The Doug Anthony All Stars to writer, teacher, artist, director and producer, Tim Ferguson is back with a new show. DNA: Tell us about your new show A Fast Life On Wheels. Tim Ferguson: It’s autobiographical but, like all creative projects, veers off into unexpected alleys, from ancient Egypt all the way to my birth and the present day. A lot of the things we’re dealing with, such as Trump, all started with the pyramids. They were the first inklings that people were getting organized, so the trouble all started there. The show’s about celebrating a lack of organisation! I’ve been to gay bars but most of the time I don’t get hit on. Despite the rumours, gay men tend to be quite shy… Your book Carry A Big Stick and documentary Tick Fucking Tock brought your Multiple WARTS, Sclerosis to everyone’s attention. Do you think people have a good understanding of MS? I think people are pretty aware of MS, but one thing concerning all people with disabilities is that employment levels are dismal. That’s everything from Down Syndrome to Multiple WHEELS Sclerosis to acquired injuries. People with a disability are perfectly capable of doing stuff, like the Paralympics, for example. If they can play tennis or enter diving competitions, they can work in people’s stores. Research has shown that IWD (Individuals With Disabilities) AND ALL! turn up on time, stay late and don’t bitch and moan. They make better employees and it PHOTOGRAPHY JAMES PENLIDIS JAMES PHOTOGRAPHY makes a business look like they give a shit.

Making comedy and making people laugh is the ultimate education. In the process of thinking about and creating a comic routine/show you use critical thinking, you engage with audiences as you try out those ideas. You write, you improvise, you consider intercultural understanding (different cultures can find different things funny…or not), and consider what might offend or be appropriate. You might want to satirise or subvert common understandings, you engage with BIG ideas and consider who you are in this crazy world. You make art and you perform art. But wait, there’s more…when you engage with comedy you actually have to think about your sense of self, your identity, who you are and what you have to say. You ask others to listen to your ideas and stories, you take risks, you build confidence, you dare to fail, dare to be brave, you laugh and you cry with laughter.
