Shameless Swindler Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Friday, January 26, 2018 Shameless Swindler Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison Chad Allen Isaacs of Watauga was sentenced to 25 years in prison this week on the charge of Theft of $200,000 or More. In this case prosecuted by our White Collar unit, Isaacs was guilty of selling interest in oil and gas wells that he did not own to multiple buyers. Isaacs represented himself as owning a “working interest” in oil wells in Jack and Cooke Counties, and told the victims he needed to sell shares to fund the well drilling and operations. He stole a total of $255,000 from 4 victims, one of which had invested his life savings in the project. “Judge Gonzalez recognized that white collar crime can be as devastating as other violent crimes, and for the victims we appreciate that he sentenced this defendant to 25 years,” said Criminal District Attorney Sharen Wilson. After Isaacs was indicted, he continued to steal while on bond. He stole $40,000 from a Sachse victim on the understanding he would get a pool, and $76,000 from a Haslet man who believed Isaacs would build him a pole vaulting facility. In both instances, Isaacs simply pocketed the money. “Chad Isaacs is like every other white collar criminal. He looks and sounds like an accomplished and knowledgeable salesmen. But when you peel back the layers it is clear that he is a criminal that belongs in prison,” said lead prosecutor Matt Smid. “The White Collar Unit worked tirelessly for months to bring this case to justice. -

Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl Share an Awkward Meal Knock, in Knocked up Page: 5 MP: Y M C
+ Pregnant pause: Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl share an awkward meal Knock, in Knocked Up Page: 5 MP: Y M C knock, K who’s there? Seth Rogen’s role in Knocked Up was a case of life imitating art, writes SALLY BROWNE Couple: Colour: ITH Seth Rogen, what you see is what you get. The Canadian actor, who plays amiable slacker Ben Stone in the roman- tic comedy Knocked Up, says his scenes Win the movie aren’t far off his real-life experiences. In the film, directed by The 40 Year Old Virgin’s Judd Apatow and also starring Paul Rudd, Ben gets a sur- prise when his one-night stand with attractive E! News presenter Alison Scott (played by Grey’s Anatomy’s Katherine Heigl) turns into a life-changing situation after she falls pregnant. That might be a stretch from Seth’s reality, but the scenes where Ben hangs out at home with his friends, who play pranks on each other and watch DVDs all day, are not far off. ‘‘I actually lived with a lot of those guys,’’ Rogen says. ‘‘Those were my actual best friends those guys. It was at times literally identical to what you see in the movie. We all took pictures of our apartments and gave them to the set decorators, and that’s how they made the set.’’ Rogen’s deep, booming laugh is easy to warm to. You get the feeling he’d be a fun guy to hang out with, provided you were equipped with safety gear. ‘‘They would just ask us, ‘What do you guys do in your free time?’ We would smoke weed and then light boxing gloves on fire and beat the crap out of each other with them,’’ he says. -
Showtime Renews €˜Shameless’ for 11Th and Final Season
Showtime Renews ‘Shameless’ for 11th and Final Season 01.13.2020 Showtime's longest-running series, Shameless, will end after season 11, president of entertainment Gary Levine revealed at TCA winter press tour on Monday. "The characters of Shameless have brought Showtime viewers more laughs and tears and pure enjoyment than any program in our history," Levine said. "While we are sad to bid the Gallaghers farewell, we couldn't be more confident in the ability of showrunner John Wells, his writing team and this great cast to bring our series to its appropriately 'shameless' conclusion." Shameless is part of Showtime's three-and-a-half hours of original scripted programming on Sundays. Season 10, which airs its finale on Sunday, Jan. 26, has averaged 5.7 million weekly viewers across platforms, Showtime revealed. "I'm unbelievably thankful for all of the years of support from Gary Levine and everyone at Showtime that's allowed us to make Shameless," executive producer John Wells said in a statement. "It's been a fantastic experience and all of us in the cast and crew have had a wonderful time following the lives of the Gallagher family and friends." As Shameless come to a close, Showtime is looking toward budding series like The L Word: Generation Q and the Abby McEnany-led Work in Progress, which have been renewed for 10-episode second seasons. Both season one finales are set to air on Jan. 26. "The L Word: Generation Q took our original series that was revered and reinvigorated it for a new generation and a new era," Levine said in a statement. -

Using tools and mapping methods from Graphika, a social media intelligence firm, we study more than 10 million tweets from 700,000 Twitter accounts that linked to more than 600 fake and conspiracy news outlets. Crucially, we study fake and con- spiracy news both before and after the election, allowing us to measure how the fake news ecosystem has evolved since November 2016. Much fake news and disinformation is still being spread on Twitter. Consistent with other research, we find more than 6.6 million tweets linking to fake and conspiracy news publishers in the month before the 2016 election. Yet disinformation continues to be a substantial problem postelection, with 4.0 million tweets linking to fake and conspiracy news publishers found in a 30-day period from mid-March to mid-April 2017. Contrary to claims that fake news is a game of “whack-a-mole,” more than 80 percent of the disinformation accounts in our election maps are still active as this report goes to press. -

The closing episode did not only mark an end, however, but also a beginning - of a US remake on Showtime (2011-). Eight series down the line and carrying the weight of critical acclaim, this article works to consider the textual representations and formal constructions of gender through the process of adaptation.
