It provides rapid access along busy commuter routes to our 7 cities. It fulfils a variety of travel needs from business and leisure to daily commuter services, including cross border services; it supports rural services and the needs of freight customers alike. Over 2500 daily services support the needs of communities and business across Scotland and the borders to England. We operate the largest suburban rail network outside London which meets the daily needs of customers into Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city. Scotland’s Railway provides links between communities and employment, industries and markets. It contributes up to £1.3bn each year to Scotland’s economy. We’re working on a number of projects to create more space on the network, improve journey times and the frequency of services, as well as enhancing facilities for customers. 4 OFFICIAL Scotland’s Railway - Better in the Making Key projects under development and in the pipeline include: • Growing Lothians and Borders • 7 Cities Connectivity • Scotland East to England Connectivity • Edinburgh Waverley Western Approach Enhancement • East Kilbride/Barrhead Corridor Enhancement • Far North Line Corridor Enhancement •Central Scotland Gauge Enhancements 5 OFFICIAL A devolved railway 6 OFFICIAL National Rail Passenger Survey 7 OFFICIAL Electrification 8 OFFICIAL Class 385s • 70 x Class 385s now operating between via Falkirk High, Falkirk Grahamston and to Stirling, Dunblane and Alloa as well as Edinburgh to North Berwick/Dunbar etc. • Class 385 technical reliability continues to be on the top of the chart for UK's new train introduction. 9 OFFICIAL Class 385s – New trains reliability table 10 OFFICIAL Inter7City • 24 HSTs now in Scotland, with the last rake to be delivered in Jan 2021 (noting we will now only have 25 HSTs due to the tragic incident at Stonehaven affecting Rake HA22). The last rake will be transferred with additional coaches which will form part of the 05th car augmentation programme. • On going modification programme, staff training and use of remote condition monitoring to address known and emerging faults with short, medium and long term action plans. • Cadder scheduled to open in early 2021 which will be utilised as an additional stabling and servicing facility for HSTs to support the increase in fleet size. 11 OFFICIAL Class 380s • On 8 December, our Class 380 electric trains celebrated their 10-year anniversary. • Over the last 10 years there have been almost 125 million passenger journeys on the 38 trains which have clocked up nearly 50 million miles from Ayrshire to Glasgow, Edinburgh, East Lothian, and beyond. • To mark the special occasion, the Class 380s have recently had a makeover.
