Within the East Renfrewshire Local Development Plan (adopted June 2015) the site is included within the Barrhead North Masterplan SPG (approved March 2015), where Policy M3 is applicable.

Policy M3 supports redevelopment of the subject site (referred to as Grahamston Road / Blackbyres Road) for employment use with enabling residential development of approximately 35 units (potential for live-work units). The LDP indicates support for development of this site to progress prior to the adoption of the masterplan, provided there is no prejudice to providing improved connections to the surrounding road network.

Andrew McCafferty Associates has submitted Representations to LDP2 to reallocate the site solely for residential development given the Council’s requirement for housing proposals of a scale that can be delivered in the short-medium term.
