I am in the process of coordinating an educational visit to on the 30th of June 2021. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for pupils to enhance their knowledge and understanding of key areas found on both the Religious Studies and History GCSE courses. Pupils will embark on a four day/ three-night cultural tour of Berlin; providing them with opportunities to study The Protestant Reformation, Life under a Communist regime, German culture of the 20th Century, The Nazi Party and legacy of the Holocaust. As your child either studies GCSE Religious Studies or History I am delighted to offer them the opportunity to take part in the following trip:

The Tour Facts:

Depart School: 30/06/21 Return to School: 03/07/21 Destination: Berlin Mode of Transport: Air Purpose of the tour: Enhance understanding for GCSE Religious Studies /History and create life-long memories Tour cost per pupil £499 (approximately) Recommended “spending” money: £40 Included in the above cost:

• Accommodation at the central “Transit Loft” on a half board basis- I have included the cost of our evening meals in our budget- however these will be eaten in central Berlin. Students will be accommodated in multi bedded rooms. • Insurance • Meet and greet at both Manchester and Berlin airports • Coach transfers from Berlin airport to your accommodation, 72-hour Berlin travel pass • Half day guided walking tour of the key historical sites of central Berlin including those linked to Martin Luther • Full day with guided tour of Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and Wannsee • Visit to the Holocaust Memorial- to reflect on the Human Rights issues we study • Guided tour of Hohenschonhausen Memorial- a former Stasi run prison • Visit to the Reichstag (the German Parliament) • Entrance to the espionage museum with it’s experiments and puzzle to solve

• Entrance to the Olympic Stadium, site of the famous “Jesse Owens” games, with the opportunity to swim in the pools there • Optional visit to the TV Tower to explore the landscape of this once divided city

Not included in the above cost: • Meals en-route. • Payment for optional activities (pocket / spending money).

If you would like your child to take part on the trip, please complete the attached form below and return it to the box outside Miss Tomlinson’s room by ASAP

There are 30 available places on this trip and it is likely to be oversubscribed. I will close entries for this trip on Friday the 14th February. In the event of over subscription names will be drawn out of a hat. If your child is allocated a place on the trip, you will be informed by letter and the deposit of £100 will be due by the end of March. We can then arrange payment plans with the total payable by April 1st 2021. Please do not send any money in at this time.

Please think carefully and discuss the planned trip with your child before making any commitment. It is possible that a substantial amount of non-refundable money could be paid by yourselves in the event of you cancelling your child’s place.
