Greetings from the Editor! I want to thank you once again for your prayers and intentions for the that will take place on October 21st, 2012 at the Vatican in Rome. From all the letters and phone calls from all our friends across Canada and the USA, there will certainly be a large contingent of pilgrims who have booked reservations for the pilgrimage to Rome in October. It seems like yesterday, that Kateri’s Cause came before the Holy Father in Rome for his announcement in December 19th 2011 of Blessed Kateri’s canonization and the official date was announced in January 2012. On October 21st, Benedict XVI in Rome will canonize Kateri Tekakwitha. There will be celebrations in Rome on that day followed by a Mass of Thanksgiving the following day. Pilgrims will visit historical places of interest in the city of Rome, including the Roman coliseum. On October 20th at 7:00 pm, the eve of the canonization, a prayer vigil will be held at the Francis Xavier Mission Church in Kahnawake. To mark this special occasion, we invite you to come and watch the rebroadcast of the canonization at 9:00 am on October 21st at the Saint Francis Xavier Mission in Kahnawake. It is Ronald Boyer - M.A. Th at this very place that the remains of Saint Kateri, the lily of the Mohawks, are entombed. A Eucharistic celebration at 10:30 am presided by Msgr. Jacques Berthelet, C.S.V., emeritus of Saint-Jean-Longueuil, will follow the broadcast. A procession to the tomb of Kateri will be held afterward within the church and a period of adoration will follow until 5 p.m. On November 4th, a Mass of Thanksgiving will take place at Saint Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal at 2:30 p.m. This celebration will be presided by His Eminence, Cardinal Jean- Claude Turcotte. Seating at the basilica is limited to less than 1800 places. Access passes to the basilica will cost $5 each (to cover for transportation costs) and will be available from our of Saint-Jean- Longueuil (Tel: 450 679 1100). More details will be available on this website www.dsjl.org/saintkateri. We expect an overflow of Kahnawake residents, along with several faithful from our diocese to attend these celebrations. Many pilgrims from across Canada and the United States will also be attending. Salt+Light Catholic TV from Toronto completed a new 60-minute DVD about Kateri. They have been quite active filming the Mission Church, Native celebrations and the shrines in Fonda and Ossernenon/Auriesville in the United States. It will be shown to the Pope and the Roman Curia on October 20th and will be a World Television Premiere exclusively broadcast on October 21st, 8PM (ET) on Cable-TV Channel 242 on Videotron. Our Lord Jesus Christ loves cheerful givers who give from their heart and who place others before themselves.
