Their acting was hilarious and incredibly charismatic during their comedic scenes, but they were absolutely spectacular when it came to the more dramatic moments of the show. Despite an outstanding cast and gorgeous writing, the only disclaimer I have for the show is that it is, well … raunchy, to say the least. Besides language, the most common worry for the audience is focused on the sexual aspects of the show. “Sex Education” is a show obviously about sex. Overall, “Sex Education” is crude in nature, but that just adds more fun and humor to the story. If you’re looking for a show that provides genuine laughter with an actual plot and you’re not too squeamish about sex, I would highly, highly recommend this one! ‘Rent’ not so live KonMari – Is it just Netflix’s

Looking beyond any reviews or the hardships “Rent: Live” faced, a new generation has now been introduced to this piece of art that’s dedicated to blaring a message of love as loud as their electric guitars will allow. No longer are Rentheads (the name the fan base is often given) alone in belting lyrics like “no day but today” and “viva La Vie Bohème.” Thousands have just been introduced to an ensemble cast of misfits who stand for staying true to yourself no matter what hand you’re dealt. They’ve watched characters face disease with a smile on their face and tell the world that, whether anyone likes it or not, they will never stop pursuing their dreams and being exactly who they are. “Rent” doesn’t just say everything we have been taught we shouldn’t, it shouts it from the rooftops of its grungy New York City set and displays it in beautiful and shocking displays of some of the harshest realities of life. This story is important, even if the performance itself doesn’t quite hit the mark. “Rent: Live” may not have gone as planned, but at the end of the day, “there is no future, there is no past, live this moment as [your] last.” B3 THE SCOUT February 1, 2019 Social media personalities

Shave up, masculinity

BY WILLIAM CRAINE Photo Editor From the moment a young boy learns to walk, they are taught to shake off the pain from the fall that follows, yet, when they witness a razor commercial that challenges the framework of their entire identity, all they know how to do is cry. When Gillette decided to fight the ever-persistent issue of toxic masculinity with the message that “we as men need to be better,” they were met by an onslaught of criticism from the very institution they challenged. However, by bringing the issue to light, Gillette has prevented it from being ignored further by individuals who never saw a problem in the first place. Toxic masculinity is the makeup of a culture defined by sex, dominance, violence and fragility. These traits are often idealized by the idea of masculinity and the journey into manhood. Such ideals are taught from a young age through all-too-familiar examples such as what toys we play with, what extracurricular activities we participate in and whom we hang out with. Furthermore, men are often taught to conceal their emotions, which leads to violent, emotional outbursts. Upset at what that other boy has been calling you?
