It is just a minute’s walk or 175 meters from the well-known Sinquerim Beach situated in a very peaceful and serene surrounding.     Anjuna Beach, Goa The Beach at Anjuna is famous for its night parties and water sports A charming façade of the quaint blue sea on one side and picturesque palm trees on the other, shelters the sunset sands of Anjuna Beach. The powdered white sands lined with red laterite rocks give the beach its characteristic rocky formation. History records that this village was first discovered by a group of these Hippie travelers that included Eight Finger Eddie, among others. Rave parties with trance music filled the serene beach air at night while days were spent tripping on drugs and alcohol. Other beaches of Goa soon followed suit. The times have since passed, but even now Anjuna is one of the most popular party spots in the world. Each year, foreigners from round the world come over to this small seaside village for its full moon parties. Trance music coupled with rave parties dominate the week of Christmas to New Year, beckoning the traveler to all sorts of forbidden pleasures.

Just grab the land, build on it(after making pretences that your structures are temporary) and then forget it. 1 Introduction Tourism in Goa has largely been and still remains ‘Beach tourism’. The beaches in Goa have been exploited to the hilt. Over 90% of domestic tourists and 99% of international tourists visit and reside along the beach front. 2 The packaging of Goa as a major international tourist destination is still actively underway, even though the number of tourists visiting Goa has exceeded the region’s carrying capacity, bringing about a steady and relentless degradation of the natural environment as well as a deterioration of the social and cultural fabric. Tourism, now is Goa’s Primary Industry. It handles 12% of all foreign tourist arrivals in India. Goa receives more tourists per annum than its total residential population (refer T.No.1, as per govt. sources, the population of Goa for the year 08-09 was 13.48 lakhs)3 The decisive issue facing any tourism destination is the benefit – cost ratio. This has never been calculated in the State. Destruction of the environment on the scale occurring in Goa can only be justified if the returns from any industry are such that they lead to enhancement of prosperity, provision of employment and reduction of poverty levels, since poverty is described as the greatest threat to environmental protection.

Goa has emerged as the most favoured tourist destination in the country, both for domestic as well as foreign tourists. Goa is a tiny State on the Western Coast of India amply bestowed with natural beauty, lovely beaches along with its 105 Kilometers coast line segregated into various beach stretches, eco- friendly atmosphere, lush green hills, world heritage monuments, churches, temples and above all friendly hospitable people. Tourism is a major activity in Goa having direct and indirect impact on all other sectors of the economy. Tourism has contributed substantially to the economic development of the State by way of foreign exchange earnings, employment generation, infra-sectoral competition and it has also improved the living standard of people. Thalasa Resort in the property bearing Sy. no. 214/1 of Anjuna Village, Bardez – Goa. 2. The said Application came to be disposed off by the Hon’ble NGT, Pune with a common order dated 29/10/2015 with a direction to the Applicant to file proper complaint to the GCZMA and then GCZMA to take necessary action. 3. Accordingly, as directed by the Hon’ble NGT, Pune a complaint letter dated 30/10/2015 was filed by Goa Paryavaran Savrakshan Sangharsh Samittee with regard to the alleged illegal construction of buildings / structures within NDZ area at various beaches in the State of Goa viz.
