DJANGO DJANGO UNVEIL “FIRST LIGHT” VIDEO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oACQyGiM9Lg

NEW ALBUM, BORN UNDER SATURN, OUT MAY 5TH ON RIBBON MUSIC

“Mixing dusty-sounding synth tones, warbling analog harmonies and big hand claps, ‘First Light’ has the vibe of psychedelic London circa 1967 — if most of the strummy guitars were replaced with analog synthesizers. The result is a humming trippiness that teems with Zombies-style harmonies and go-go happy bounce.” — Los Angeles Times “Essential Tracks”

“one of 2012's most thrilling records.” — NPR Music “First Listen”

“Few other new bands have combined disparate genres with such grace.” — The New York Times

“art pop full of hooks, wit and weirdness.” —

“#1. Django Django. They look like Vampire Weekend, dress like Devo, harmonize like Todd Rundgren's Utopia, play guitar like Wall of Voodoo . . . The gentlemen in the band mixed goofy fun, earnest enthusiasm, and tight harmonies.” -- SPIN “Bonnaroo 2013: The 10 Best Things We Saw On Thursday”

Following last week’s album announcement, Scottish four-piece Django Django are excited to unveil the video for Born Under Saturn’s debut single, “First Light.” The video was directed by renowned artist Daniel Swan, who is also responsible for the band’s excellent “Hail Bop” video.

Django Django is producer/drummer Dave Maclean, bassist Jim Dixon, guitarist Vinnie Neff and keyboardist Tommy Grace. Their sophomore album, Born Under Saturn, expands on the slippery, indefinable nature of their self-titled debut, applying all of it's giddy art-rock imagination only across a much larger canvas. Throughout, Django Django continues to find magic in the unexplored spaces between musical genres. Beach Boys harmonies and Link Wray riffs crisscross with house music pianos, while classical keyboard flourishes meld with reggae swing. Unlike the debut, which was largely written by Dave and Vinnie, the songwriting for Born Under Saturn was split four ways before the most promising seeds were teased apart and arranged accordingly by Dave in his role as album producer.

Django Django’s Born Under Saturn is out May 5th on Ribbon Music and May 4th on Because Music overseas. It is available for pre-order everywhere now. All pre-orders via iTunes and the Ribbon Mart come with an instant free download of “First Light.” A limited edition version of Born Under Saturn with orange and black smoke vinyl is available for pre-order on the Ribbon store.
