Ghada Al Atrash Janbey is a Weekly Columnist in the Cranbrook Daily Townsman newspaper, in Cranbrook, BC, Canada. She holds a Master of Arts in English Literature with an emphasis on Post- Colonial Literature from the University of Oklahoma, USA. Reported by: Shauki Halime, USA ADS President, Mr. Souheil What a wonderful convention, which will never be forgotten Ghaoui, Houston Chapter (on Left) by all who attended. The warmth and hospitality of the Houston presenting the award to Gala MC, Mr. Ray Helal Chapter was more than any one expected. No wonder it was Dr. Clovis Maksoud selected as the Chapter of the Year. It was clear the entire community, worked together under the outstanding leadership of Mr. Souheil Ghaoui, to make this a fantastic event, from the initial warm welcome to the final goodbye. Many new friends were made by everyone.
Over 800 individuals attended, families came from everywhere, which made for a diverse and interesting atmosphere and made it a National Convention. The dynamic and hardworking Convention Chair, Mr. Tarek Amine seemed to never sleep as he ensured the smooth running of all the activities and events. Sheikh Moustafa Moukarim was honored by the Houston Chapter as well as the distinguished Dr. Clovis Maksoud was made an honorary member, which was a touch of class.
