POST-GAME NOTES & QUOTES Los Angeles Kings (23-30-6) vs. Washington Capitals (33-20-7) – Feb. 18, 2019 Kings 0-0-2=2 Capitals 2-1-0=3 KINGS HEAD COACH WILLIE DESJARDINS: (RE: TONIGHT’S PERFORMANCE): “It was tough. I thought we did start well. You know I thought we played pretty well throughout the game. But they have a good power play, you know. They just capitalized on two power plays and that was a difference. And then they got the tip and we had stuff going to the net that we could have had our tips but we just didn’t get them tonight.” KINGS FORWARD ALEX IAFALLO: (RE: COMMUNICATION WITH DUSTIN BROWN): “I’m always talking out there and making sure we’re on the same page. For that goal I just really hard to drive the net and touch it in, we made a great play. You know, we just got to drive the net more and get those chances. KINGS FORWARD AUSTIN WAGNER (RE: PERFORMANCE AT HOME COMPARED TO ROADTRIPS): “Yeah, I don’t know what to say to that. I guess we just got to figure things out I guess. We go back on the road this week so we got to find our groove there and then bring it back home again.” CAPITALS HEAD COACH TODD REIRDEN: (RE: POWER PLAY): “Special teams is always really important. Two huge power play goals and we’re able to take advantage of our speed from Jakub Vrana to draw two penalties. We knew going into the game that we had to play a fast game and regardless of being back-to-back or not, we wanted to play fast and force them to defend and we were able to capitalize. So it was a big part of the game for us.” CAPITALS FORWARD ALEX OVECHKIN: (RE: SPECIAL TEAMS’ PERFORMANCE): “Obviously 2-for-2 is a pretty good result. You can see if the first line didn’t score, the second power-play line jumped in and did the job. We play simple, we play smart, and we move the puck well.” CAPITALS FORWARD BRETT CONNOLLY: (RE: HIS GOAL) “Obviously on the road it’s nice to get up a couple early and not be chasing the game, that’s when it’s really hard, especially on a back-to-back. So it was nice. Obviously O [Alex Ovechkin] got a good one there on the first one, and it was good to get that one right away. It was an important time in the game and we’re happy with the win.” KINGS NOTES: • Dustin Brown (0-1=1) registered his 600th NHL point. He is the 8th player in Kings history to reach the 600 points plateau with the team. • Alex Iafallo (1-0=1) and Ilya Kovalchuk (1-0=1) each tallied their 13th goal of the season, tied for second most among Kings players. • Anze Kopitar (0-1=1) recorded his 27th assist of the season. He has 13 points (4-9=13) over the last 11 games. • Drew Doughty (0-1=1) tallied his team-leading 28th assist of the year. • Paul LaDue (0-1=1) recorded his second assist of the season, both have been in the last two games.
