HUSKIES FLASHBACK - 1986 NU SHOCKS NO. 2 LOUISVILLE IN ALASKA

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — This month marks the 26th anniversary of one of the greatest wins in the history of Northeastern basketball — an 88-84 upset of nationally-ranked No. 2 Louisville. The Huskies, this week, returned to the site of that historic victory — Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Alaska — to participate in the Great Alaska Shootout, the nation’s longest-running regular- season tournament. It was in that same tournament that Northeastern, behind 32 Reggie Lewis points, shocked the basketball world by defeating the defending national champions en route to the tournament championship game. The Boston Globe’s Jackie MacMullan was in Anchorage for the occasion. Following is her 1986 article, along with the official box score from that historic game.
