    Da “Prog UK” BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO Transiberiana I maestri italiani fanno un ritorno trionfale Tutto suona meglio in italiano. Anche un'attraente frase inglese come 'beautiful daughter of love' sale di un gradino quando viene presentata come 'bella figlia dell'amore’. Quanto di più, Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso. Non è certo facile da pronunciare, ma la sua traduzione in inglese, “Mutual Aid Bank”, non suona bene allo stesso modo. Questo nuovo album che il Banco ci offre dopo più di 25 anni è un'aggiunta molto gradita al “Rock Progressivo Italiano" (Ndr tutto ciò che è messo tra virgolette, sarà lasciato in italiano dall’autore). Infatti, essendo entrati per la prima volta in scena nel 1969, è come se Vittorio Nocenzi e la sua compagnia non se ne fossero mai andati via. Un album che trascende il linguaggio. Per i vecchi fan del Banco e per i nuovi arrivati, Transiberiana - che usa il viaggio in treno intercontinentale come metafora della vita - contiene una varietà di tesori. Tracce come “La Discesa Dal Treno” e “L’assalto Dei Lupi” riportano alle vette e alle qualità tecniche dei loro originali, contemporanei inglesi come Yes e Gentle Giant. Gli anni successivi, - grazie anche agli sviluppi stratosferici delle tecnologie delle tastiere - fanno sì che canzoni come “I Ruderi Del Gulag” e la dark rock “Lo Sciamano” abbiano un suono più cupo, industriale e contemporaneo. Si tratta di sviluppi affascinanti, ma c'è molto da amare anche negli elementi più morbidi, più latini e jazzy. “Campi di Fragole” è quasi incredibilmente romantica, un “bel canto” prog, che non sarebbe fuori posto in una calda serata in Piazza San Marco a Venezia.

    Banco del Mutuo Soccorso. Transiberiana. di Gabriele Marangoni, già edito su http://www.metal.it La vita può riservare sorprese inaspettate come un nuovo album del Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso. In pochi ci avrebbero scommesso, se consideriamo la prematura scomparsa di Francesco Di Giacomo avvenuta nel 2014 e l’emorragia cerebrale di cui è stato vittima Vittorio Nocenzi nel 2015. Eppure il tastierista non si è perso d’animo e grazie a una line-up rinnovata – che originariamente avrebbe dovuto prevedere anche Giacomo Voli dietro al microfono – oggi ci regala il qui presente e gustosissimo “Transiberiana”. “Stelle Sulla Terra” è un manifesto in cui sonorità moderne e quasi acide si fondono con la tradizione progressiva dei Seventies, il tutto impreziosito dalla prestazione maiuscola e personale di Tony D’Alessio (un po’ Stratos, un po’ Lanzetti). Se “L’Imprevisto” – con i synth in evidenza – è un episodio più snello dal carattere tipicamente italiano, “La Discesa Dal Treno” spicca per la performance strumentale dell’accoppiata Marcheggiani/Nocenzi. “L’Assalto Dei Lupi”, con le sue timbriche emersoniane, strizza l’occhio alla fusion, in contrasto con la successiva “Campi Di Fragole”, bucolica e un filo nostalgica. La complessa e sperimentale “Lo Sciamano” sfocia nell’intensa e poetica “Eterna Transiberiana”, su cui aleggia lo spettro di Aldo Tagliapetra, prima di una traccia crimsonica per i suoi ritmi ipnotici intitolata “I Ruderi Del Gulag”. “Lasciando Alle Spalle” prelude a “Il Grande Bianco”, dove al mix di sonorità vengono aggiunti elementi ambient. L’epilogo (“Oceano: Strade Di Sale”) è essenziale e dinamico, e introduce adeguatamente due pezzi storici delBanco (“Metamorfosi” e “Il Ragno”), registrati dal vivo nel 2018 e qui proposti ad attestare un’ideale coerenza tra la band di ieri e quella di oggi.

Spagnoli BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO E finalmente, dopo le edizioni Legacy degli anni scorsi riguardanti Darwin e il “Salvadanaio”, due fondamentali album del Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, ecco che arriviamo al capolavoro dell’intero progressive italiano, a completare la mitica trilogia del gruppo: Io sono nato libero. Sony Music questa volta non ha badato a spe- Vittorio Nocenzi se e al prezzo di un normale cd ci regala, oltre alla versione masterizzata del miglior album del gruppo rock romano, anche un secondo disco che LcontieneA nuove tracce, fra cui l’ultima in cui Vittorio No- cenzi racconta la genesi dei due dischi, Io sono nato libero e La libertà difficile. Ed è lo stesso Nocenzi che molto gentilmente mi ha ricevuto nello studio di registrazione di Fabio Liberatori e raccontato di questo interessante pro- getto, illustrandomi tra l’altro il motivo per cui ha accon- sentito a questa nuova emissione prima del non lontano nuovo concept-album in preparazione e dell’altro lavoro, un’opera contemporanea basata sulla figura di Orlando, a cui sta lavorando insieme all’erede musicale, il figlio Mi- chelangelo. Tornando a Io sono nato libero, bisogna dire che, oltre alla qualità musicale, va apprezzata la confe- zione del cofanetto, nella quale i due cd sono racchiusi in un libro con copertina cartonata composto da 40 pagine con all’interno tante foto del percorso Banco (rappresen- tato anche da una sorta di albero genealogico che parte da Donna Plautilla, inciso nel 1970 per la RCA ma edito dall’etichetta indipendente Raro! Records ben diciannove anni dopo, nel 1989, fino ad arrivare a quest’ultimo) e una lunga e dettagliata presentazione al disco compresi i testi dei brani che compongono la parte nuova, ovvero La libertà difficile, che da solo vale il prezzo d’acquisto.

    TEL 06/ 20685196 FAX 06 2009971 CELL: 334 3328317- 339 65 25 922 [email protected] BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO Il progetto musicale confluito sotto la denominazione di BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO resta uno dei più significativi esempi di contaminazione globale. Con il Banco la musica rock sale di livello abbandonando certi suoi luoghi comuni e ne ridisegna un percorso significativamente diverso per forma e contenuto. E’ voce unanime della carta stampata e della critica internazionale che i musicisti romani traccino un percorso talmente proprio da far coniare il termine “musica alla Banco”, che la dice lunga su come la storicizzazione di questa band non sia limitata al mito metropolitano, ma risulti segnata soprattutto da una proposta in continua evoluzione, contribuendo a consacrare il rock progressivo italiano in tutto il mondo. Non a caso l’opera rock Darwin e Io sono nato libero sono ancora oggi al primo e terzo posto della speciale classifica U.S.A. riservata ai migliori album progressive di tutti i tempi (sito internet http://gnosis2000.net/gnosis.htm). Altri segnali in questo senso sono il grande esito dei live del Banco all’estero: in Giappone, in Mexico, negli U.S.A., in Brasile, in Canada solo per citare alcuni episodi degli ultimissimi anni. Altrettanto successo hanno riscosso i recenti concerti italiani, inseriti in un percorso ricco di eventi e di numerosissime collaborazioni e in location speciali come il Teatro Regio di Parma, il Primo Maggio a Roma in p.zza San Giovanni, Palazzo Te a Mantova, lo Sferisterio di Macerata etc. LA MUSICA Il Banco ha sempre creduto che la qualità non sia proprietà esclusiva di nessun genere musicale, che anzi passa come un filo sottile dovunque ci sia ispirazione e autentica creatività.

    Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso – Io Sono Nato Libero 1973-2017 (40:32 + 77:36, 2CD, Sony Music, 2017) Nach dem überraschenden Tod von Sänger Francesco Di Giacomo im Jahre 2014 war die Zukunft von Banco lange Zeit im Ungewissen. Auf dem 2014er Boxset „Un‘ Idea Che Con Puoi Fermare“ gab es bereits kurze Sprechpassagen mit musikalischer Untermalung zu hören, die so etwas wie eine Fortführung der Historie auch ohne den prägenden Gesang von Francesco Di Giacomo andeuteten. Doch erst die Doppel CD des 73er Album „Io Sono Nato Libero“ als Sony Legacy Edition enthält u.a. neues Material im neuen Line-Up, quasi als Banco 2.0. Die Verbindung aus einem 70er Jahre Klassiker und neuem Material ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig gewählt, doch entschied sich die römische Formation wohl für diesen etwas ungewöhnlichen Weg, da es die fünf neuen Titel auf CD2 unter dem Titel „La Libertà Difficile“ gerade mal auf knapp 30 Minuten bringen. In erster Linie geht es bei dieser Box im Buchformat jedoch um „Io Sono Nato Libero“. Ob das Album in irgendeiner Form remastert wurde, ist leider nicht näher erläutert. Trotzdem klingen die Aufnahmen frisch und immer noch aktuell. Zwar steht „Io Sono Nato Libero“ zu Unrecht etwas im Schatten der ersten beiden Banco Alben, dennoch gehört es zweifellos zu den echten Klassikern der Italo Prog Szene. Politische Texte untermalt von folkiger, sinfonischer Musik, die sowohl die mediterrane, etwas luftige Verbundenheit erkennen lassen, aber eben auch auf die ergreifende Kraft des Progressive Rocks jener Zeit setzt. Dies alles getragen von der markanten, wandlungsfähigen Stimme Francesco Di Giacomos, der von mal pathetisch, etwas theatralisch, mal flehend oder klagend sein kraftvolles Organ erklingen lässt, während dies instrumental vor allem von den beiden Nocenzi Brüdern an den Tasten zusammengehalten wird.

  • Italian Rock
    Rock music arrived in Italy in the early 1960s from the United States with the earliest versions of rock and roll. In that period there were cover versions or interpretative covers of already existing songs. 1960s & 1970 The United States and United Kingdom during the 1960s were in the period of the psychedelic rock boom, which inspired Italian psychedelic bands such as Mario Schifano and Le Orme. During the 1968 student uprisings, many young and educated Italians began to identify with the counterculture in France, Mexico, USA and across the world. Young Italians still had a well educated familiarity with classical music composers. The result was the birth of classically-influenced rock bands which fit right into the international trend to progressive rock. Among the progressive rock bands, we can remember Premiata Forneria Marconi, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, New Trolls. Banco del Mutuo Soccorso The most important features of their sound were the complex texture provided by piano, Hammond organ and synthesizers, and by the original vocals delivered by Francesco Di Giacomo. A careful balance of electronic and acoustic instruments, and the use of reeds, made the sound of Banco increasingly original and innovative, with a blend of rock, jazz and classical music which did not forsake the Italian melodic tradition. Vasco Rossi Vasco Rossi, also known with the nickname “Il Blasco”, is one of the more successful Italian singer-songwriters, both in Italy and abroad. During his career, he has published 26 albums and has written over 250 songs, as well as lyrics for other artists. He calls himself a "provoca(u)tore", as throughout his career he has been regularly criticized for his choices of lifestyle and the lyrics in his songs.
