Bayer Abstract.—A serial key to the genera of Octocorallia exclusive of the Pennatulacea is presented. New taxa introduced are Olindagorgia, new genus for Pseudopterogorgia marcgravii Bayer; Nicaule, new genus for N. crucifera, new species; and Lytreia, new genus for Thesea plana Deich- mann. Ideogorgia is proposed as a replacement ñame for Dendrogorgia Simpson, 1910, not Duchassaing, 1870, and Helicogorgia for Hicksonella Simpson, December 1910, not Nutting, May 1910. A revised classification is provided. Introduction The key presented here was an essential outgrowth of work on a general revisión of the octocoral fauna of the western part of the Atlantic Ocean. The far-reaching zoogeographical affinities of this fauna made it impossible in the course of this study to ignore genera from any part of the world, and it soon became clear that many of them require redefinition according to modern taxonomic standards. Therefore, the type-species of as many genera as possible have been examined, often on the basis of original type material, and a fully illustrated generic revisión is in course of preparation as an essential first stage in the redescription of western Atlantic species. The key prepared to accompany this generic review has now reached a stage that would benefit from a broader and more objective testing under practical conditions than is possible in one laboratory. For this reason, and in order to make the results of this long-term study available, even in provisional form, not only to specialists but also to the growing number of ecologists, biochemists, and physiologists interested in octocorals, the key is now pre- sented in condensed form with minimal illustration. -

UNEP/MAP SPA/RAC - Tunis, 2019 Note by the Secretariat The 19th Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention (COP 19) agreed on the Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Programme (IMAP) of the Mediterranean Sea and Coast and Related Assessment Criteria which set, in its Decision IG.22/7, a specific list of 27 common indicators (CIs) and Good Environmental Status (GES) targets and principles of an integrated Mediterranean Monitoring and Assessment Programme. During the initial phase of the IMAP implementation (2016-2019), the Contracting parties to the Barcelona Convention updated the existing national monitoring and assessment programmes following the Decision requirements in order to provide all the data needed to assess whether ‘‘Good Environmental Status’’ defined through the Ecosystem Approach process has been achieved or maintained. In line with IMAP, Guidance Factsheets were developed, reviewed and agreed by the Meeting of the Ecosystem Approach Correspondence Group on Monitoring (CORMON) Biodiversity and Fisheries (Madrid, Spain, 28 February-1 March 2017) and the Meeting of the SPA/RAC Focal Points (Alexandria, Egypt, 9-12 May 2017) for the Common Indicators to ensure coherent monitoring. -

Nat. Croat., Vol. 16, No. 4., 233–266, 2007, Zagreb. Sixty-five anthozoan species were recorded and collected in the area of Tela{}ica Nature Park during surveys from 1999 to 2006. General and ecological data are presented for each species, as well as distribution and local abundance. The recorded species account for about 56% of the antho- zoans known in the Adriatic Sea, and for about 38% of the anthozoans known in the Mediterra- nean Sea. From Tela{}ica Nature Park, 16 species are considered to be Mediterranean endemics. The heterogeneity of the substrates and benthic communities in the bay and cliffs is considerable in Tela{}ica Nature Park; anthozoans are present on most of the different kinds of substrates and in a wide range of benthic communities. (Crustacea, Decapoda, Caridea, Pontoniinae) Abstract - The shrimps of the genus Periclimenes in the Northeastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean present a complex and little known systematic . In the present paper, several problems are solved, a new subspecies is described and a new identification key is proposed. Furthermore the systematic value of live colour patterns in the taxa examined is briefly di- scussed. Riassunto - II genere Periclimenes Costa, 1844 nel mar Mediterraneo e nell'Atlantico Nordorientale: revisione delle specie e descrizione di Periclimenes sagittifer aegylios subsp. nov. (Crustacea, Decapoda, Caridea, Pontoniinae). II genere Periclimenes presenta una sistematica complessa e poco conosciuta. Ricerche effettuate dagli autori hanno messo in luce la confusione dovuta a descrizioni carenti dei tipi effettuate talvolta su esemplari singoli e incompleti. Viene percio proposta una chiave siste- matica e viene descritta una nuova subspecie. Inoltre si accenna al valore sistematico delle caratteristiche cromatiche nei taxa esaminati. Resumen : mediante una revisión de la literatura y datos propios no publicados, se ha confeccionado un listado con la fauna de cnidarios bentónicos (Cnidaria) del Golfo de Vizcaya y zonas próximas, en un área geográfica comprendida entre los 42º N a 48º30’N y 10º W (Atlántico NE). Se han listado 421 especies, de las que 207 son medusozoos (Staurozoa, Scyphozoa, Hydrozoa) y 214 antozoos. De ellas, 336 (79.8 %) se conocen al sur del paralelo 44ºN (cornisa cantábrica española y Galicia). Se ha trazado asimismo la repartición batimétrica de cada especie, atribuyéndose en cada caso su presencia a los Dominios Bentónicos Costero (0-200 m) y Profundo (+200 m). Los medusozoos se encuentran más diversificados en el Dominio Costero, y los antozoos en el Dominio Profundo. En algunos grupos taxonómicos, incluso a nivel de orden, la biodiversidad conocida se estima próxima a la real. -

Anthozoa. Nat. Croat., Vol. 11, No. 3., 265–292, 2002, Zagreb. Fifty-two anthozoan species were recorded and collected in the area of Mljet National Park dur- ing surveys from 1995 to 1998. General and ecological data are presented for each species, as well as distribution and local abundance. Recorded species account for about 60% of anthozoans known in the Adriatic Sea, and for about 45% of anthozoans known in the Mediterranean Sea. Eight of these species were not recorded previously in the Adriatic Sea. Eleven species are considered to be Mediterranean endemics. The heterogeneity of substrates and benthic communities is considerable in the Mljet National Park, with anthozoans present on most different kinds of substrates and in a wide range of benthic communities. Remarkably, the colonial coral Cladocora caespitosa builds a large »reef-like« structure in the Veliko Jezero, in the area characterized by strong bottom hydro- dynamism.
