Whistler Sport Legacies is a not-for-profit organization responsible for owning, managing and operating three 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games venues: Whistler Athletes’ Centre, , and Whistler Sliding Centre. Our vision is to be an international centre for sport excellence by providing world class facilities for athletes to discover, develop, and excel in their chosen sport. Whistler Sliding Centre is home to the fastest ice track in the world. Since hosting the , and competitions during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the Whistler Sliding Centre continues to challenge the sports’ most elite athletes with international competitions, recruiting camps, and ongoing youth programs. Visitors are invited to tour the state-of-the- art facility, or experience the action first-hand with passenger bobsleigh (winter and summer) and skeleton rides (winter only) down part of the 1,450 meter-long ice track.

Manager, Sport is responsible for managing the delivery of sliding sport programs at Whistler Sliding Centre. Reporting to the Vice President, Sport this role works co-operatively with local, national, and international sport organizations to directly enhance the quality of sport delivery at WSC while growing sport. This Regular Full Time role requires flexibility to assist the team with other activities or initiatives including working evenings and weekends as required.

Responsibilities  Assist the VP, Sport and Managing Director, WSC to develop and manage an annual business plan and overall budget for the WSC Sliding Sport department  Liaise with the Supervisor, Sport and Guest Services in all aspects of sport  Oversee the overall Sport programs budget  Ensure, up date, and report all relevant WSC sport statistics for final reporting  Prepare reports, departmental budget, POS reporting as required  Support the development of new sport business initiatives  Develop sport equipment budget, maintenance and replacement schedules, agreements, and inventory  Oversee all aspects of the sliding Sport department POS system while liaising with the Finance and WSC Guest Services departments  Champion and adhere to all WSL corporate policies, procedures, and contribute to the development of WSC policies and procedures  Ensure an effective information flow between WSC leadership team, other WSL departments, venues, WSC staff, volunteers, and contractors  Work closely with WSL Marketing, Communication, and Sales colleagues/department to promote event and sport programs to the fullest  Design and assist in the maintenance of the departmental electronic filing system

 Direct coordination of sport office space while ensuring efficient equipment and document storage  Liaise with other WSL venues and sport managers/supervisors to ensure seamless delivery of sport initiatives across all venues  Carry out Whistler Sport Legacies’ customer service philosophy AIM: All Interactions Matter

Sport Programming  Assist the Vice President, Sport as required and directed  Develop, and support the delivery of sliding sport programs as directed  Manage WSC sport coaches  Develop, and manage the annual schedule for the sliding sport programs  Ensure effective communication with guests, athletes, parents, coaches and officials  Develop and implement mechanisms to enhance the quality of all WSC sport programming including recruitment and retention programs  Develop a Sport Operations Manual including safety procedures and then liaise with Supervisor, Sport and Guest Services for continual maintenance and implementation  Liaise with coaches, partners, and user groups in planning and scheduling development programs  Support sport organizations in their grant applications for programs and events  Responsible for development of “Operating Principles” that include “User Agreements” between the NSO’s and WSC as defined in the “Sport Access Expectations” of the “Post Games Operating Agreement”

Position Requirements Education/Experience  Diploma, certificate or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field (e.g., sport management, business administration, etc.) or equivalent combination of education/experience required  Previous experience in managing an operational budget required  Supervisory experience required  Knowledge of the sports and programming of bobsleigh, luge, skeleton, and high performance training required  Knowledge of sport development and the Long Term Athlete Development Model an asset  Event management / coordination experience preferred Page 2 of 3 Printed or electronically transmitted copies are uncontrolled.  Knowledge and understanding of the National Coach Certification Program an asset  Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License required  Class 4 Driver’s License or Class 4 Unrestricted Driver’s License an asset

Languages  Fluency in English required  Fluency in French an asset

Physical Requirements  Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions for extended periods of time  Ability to stand for long periods of time  Ability to lift 50lbs
