Contact: [email protected] 1 The Lost Songs of Somerville By Scott Cerreta 2 I And a one, a two, a one, two, three, four. Remember me? I used to be the face of America, at least according to the painted cover of a once famous magazine. You’ll remember the picture if I show it to you: I’m the kid in the middle with the chipped tooth, a small flag planted in one young fist and a dying sparkler in the other; I’m sitting on a grassy hill with my family and some neighbors and the picture’s perspective is that of being just downhill looking up at us; our faces, still glowing with wonder, are all staring up into a darkening evening sky filled with fireworks which are, at that moment, in exact full neon blossom. Can’t find the likeness? Well, it was a long time ago and though some of us do, I guess most of us don’t, as children, much resemble our eventual adult selves. Anyway, the face of America wasn’t really me, it was our town, Somerville, they were referring to, back when this country was still knowable enough that one could imagine its true essence being found in such a small and simple space. -

Songs from Orion
Songs from Orion by John Eckalbar Songs from Orion © 2006 by John Eckalbar All rights reserved Permission to reproduce copies, except excerpts for reviews, is prohibited unless given in writing by the author: John Eckalbar Chico, California (530) 343-6791 [email protected] Songs from Orion is posted on the Forum page of the Heidelberg Graphics Web site: www.HeidelbergGraphics.com in Chico, California, for the enjoyment of readers. It may not be copied or reprinted except for personal reading. Several people deserve thanks for their help on this project. My wife, Anne, my sister, Mary Glazer, and my friends Laurence Boag and John Elstrott all read early versions of the manuscript and got me to believe that I should stick with it. My great friend David Crosby did the same, and I doubt that I would have kept at it except for their encouragement. Ernie Brace, a POW captured in Laos and released in Hanoi, was kind enough to read the sections on the MIA/POW experience. Capt. Zeke Cormier and Mr. Joe Ciokin arranged for me to fly out to the USS Constellation and the USS Carl Vinson to see what carrier catapult shots are like. And my son, Walter, both inspired and proofread the sections on wrestling. Women Leaders in Law and Business: Trailblazers, Innovators, and Disrupters in the Law
2019 Women Leaders in Law and Business: Trailblazers, Innovators, and Disrupters in the Law - Women, Law & Leadership Seminar and Ideas Lab Cover by Women, Law & Leadership Seminar Students Women Trailblazers in Law and Business: Profiles in Leadership This database on profiles on transformative leadership is the first of its kind on women's leadership stories developed in the law school classroom. Penn Law's Women, Law & Leadership seminar examined the underrepresentation of women in leadership in law and business and the policy and strategic imperatives that could equalize the playing field for all women and reconceptualize the workplace for both women and men. The research on the barriers to leadership were conducted through interviews with women leaders who have helped to dismantle structural barriers and blazed a trail for other women in law, business and public life. Through this research on the lived experiences of women in law and business, the seminar advanced a transformative theory of leadership based on a model of gender equality, fairness, and macroeconomics. The narratives of women's leadership can serve as a powerful charge to the next generation of leaders, transform the political economy of our time and create a new theory of justice. Dance and the Diamond Sky
The Dance and the Diamond Sky Gary Marks / GM / © 2020 by Gary Marks Marksland Entertainment All rights reserved No part of this book may be reproduced without written permission from the author. The names of the characters in this story have not been changed to protect the innocent. They protected their own innocence. PART I One I stared at the floating furniture, the shimmering clothes in my closet, the dimensionless walls—reflected like a mirror in the liquid blackness of my fourth floor window. Beyond the glass was a frozen night; no stars shining. Winter awaited the emergence of our frail young spirits, ready to carry us through the campus gates into the chaos of Washington, DC. and environs. But we remained protected, cocooned. My dorm room was perfectly insulated. My thoughts were intended to be about simple things -- studying a preset curriculum while snacking on a bag of potato chips from the vending machine down the hall. Perhaps listening to the toned-down recorded version of Jimi Hendrix singing The Wind Cries Mary on the hi-fi I'd brought from home. I turned my gaze from the window. Sherry remained motionless, sitting on the edge of my unmade bed, her eyes fixed upon me. I reached for one of the books sitting on my nightstand and flipped it open to a random page—charts and symbols Dance in the Diamond Sky Gary Marks appeared, hieroglyphic images of dots floating on lines. “This is my music theory book." I weighed it in my hand, like the book on evolution Spencer Tracy held in the closing scene of Inherit the Wind, but forming the opposite conclusion.
