To be supported by Hawthorn Rowing Club a rowing program must firstly satisfy one of the following principles to be ratified by the HRC committee for inclusion into the HRC’s annual rowing program. The program must be able to demonstrate a club or member benefit as follows: a. Introductory programs; I. that enhance broader community membership of HRC II. as part of a pathway of membership development activity III. aimed at developing club skills and club competitive performance b. Skills development & coaching programs I. to enhance rowing enjoyment and ability for members II. to facilitate members health & fitness III. to develop member squads and crews of members for competition IV. to facilitate club success and club representation in state & national rowing. c. A rowing activity for club member social integration. d. Additionally as part of our insurance regimen, no HRC equipment usage or access to facilities can be provided to individuals who are not insured by the governing sporting association or endorsed by the club. e. Members are reminded that individuals running coaching or training programs for payment, that are not part of the club’s annual program, may be considered by our insurers as private entities not covered within the club or rowing associations association’s insurance regime 2.1 Rowing Program Aims a.The aim of HRC’s rowing program is for the club to be an active and successful participant in the Rowing Victoria and Rowing Australia rowing associations. a. State / National championship representation, in both Club & Masters, is the end goal of our rowing program. b. On a club level our goal is finishing in the top ten in state club premierships. To this end, we are committed to: i. High levels of club participation in the regatta season ii. Ensuring the quality and availability of a competitive fleet for member use iii. Supporting social and learn to row with appropriate equipment iv. Emphasis on developing our young adult and junior member competition success v. Supporting and grow Masters participation in competition. vi. Have HRC rowers obtain state selection each season vii. Private Coaching - General Principles: i. Private coaching at Hawthorn Rowing Club is considered to be a fee for service arrangement between club member(s) and the contracted coach. ii. A private coach has no rights to access HRC clubhouse or equipment. The access to equipment comes from rights of HRC club members making up any crews being coached. As such, club access and bookings of any club equipment are to be made by club members only. iii. Private coaches who are not HRC members, do not have rights to utilize HRC coaching equipment. The only exception to this is if they are part of an endorsed club program e.g. (HRC Learn to Row, HRC Go Rowing and Youth Development and Rowing Development Squad programs). iv. Coaches wishing to access HRC coaching equipment, e.g. speed boats, must first seek Captain’s permission, providing evidence of appropriate licenses, and coaches insurance coverage. Coaches who are not registered with the rowing association are not covered by insurance and will therefore not be allowed to access HRC equipment for coaching purposes. 3.0 Coaching (cont.). 3.b. Hawthorn Rowing Club Coaching Register. Hawthorn Rowing Club is introducing a coach register to satisfy conditions of our insurance. It will also assist members in finding coaching assistance. 3.c The Register will include these details: Captain will place coaches on the register who satisfy our insurance requirements. Details supplied to Captain prior to being placed on the register should include: i. A recent Photograph ii. A short Rowing Bio iii. HRC Current Membership Status Yes/NO iv. Current Rowing Association Accreditations E.G Senior Rower, L1/ L2 Coach, Cox, v. Speed Boat License type and expiry date vi. Availability to coach members and preferred methods e.g. Group, 1-on-1, etc. vii. Email Contact viii.Phone Contact 3.D Non-Paid Coaches. i. A register of club-member approved volunteer coaches will also be separately listed, mirroring information above. Coaching 3.e. Club Funded Coaching To facilitate member interaction, regatta selection and the development of representative crews, the Rowing Development Committee will arrange for a level of club organized and funded, weekly training sessions for adult club members. These sessions aim to: i.Promote broad based involvement in representing HRC in the regatta season ii.Provide an avenue for members to get involved in crews iii.Provide a very base level of club coaching and regatta fitness preparation f. Rowing Development SeSSion bookingS Based upon club interest HRC will continue to fund club group regatta training sessions facilitated by Development Coach - Luciano Morand until End March 2020.
