H PROPER WINTER DRESS: We have many students coming to school in clothes that are too light for winter wear. Please send your children in appropriate clothing for the season; coats, mittens, hats, and socks. Students should be prepared for outdoor recess. Parents, in wet weather it might be a good E idea for your child(ren) to keep an extra pair of jeans and socks in his/her locker. It might save you a trip to school with dry clothes.

WINTER RULES: I 1) In cold weather students should have their coats zipped, gloves or mittens and a hat on. 2) Students may not kick or throw snow. 3) Students may not slide on the snow or ice. 4) Students must wear snow pants and boots to play in the snow.

G Winter weather is coming!! Please do not call the school to check on school closings!!!!! Here is a list of TV and radio stations that will be contacted. You can also check the news stations on the internet for school closings. You should also receive a phone message from our Messenger system if we cancel or have a late start. Perfect Attendance Recognition - We had 81 students who had perfect attendance during the first trimester of the year. Students were recognized for having 0 absences and 0 tardies. Congratulations to those students. We will recognize students with perfect attendance for the 2nd and 3rd trimesters at later dates. Attendance is very important and assists students in their achievement. We will also recognize perfect and outstanding attendance for the whole year at our End of the Year assembly on the last day of school.

Soaring Eagle Recipients – Congratulations to Kora Huizenga, Elle Lonergan, and Alyssa Thomson for being our 2018- 2019 1st trimester recipients of the Soaring Eagle Award. This award is given each trimester to one student from each 5th grade class who has shown excellent leadership skills and is voted on by their peers.

STEM-A-THON – We had a successful Stem-A-Thon on Nov. 20. We raised $4339.62 on STEM activities. Thank you to everyone who donated.

Bus Issues – Our office closes at 3:30 so any messages left for us after that won’t be heard until the following morning. If your child rides a bus and is late arriving home and you want to check on them please call our transportation department at (563) 243-4441. They can tell you if there’s a problem and they have the ability to radio into the bus to see how much longer before a student should be dropped off. If the bus is late picking your child up in the morning, please also call transportation to see why. We aren’t contacted about late buses and won’t be able to answer your questions. Last of all, don’t be concerned if your child gets dropped off or picked up by a different CCSD bus than usual. Sometimes buses break down or a driver is sick and a different bus is sent to pick up or drop off students.
