Groups like *NSync, O-Town and Backstreet Boys started out of Orlando and enjoyed years of success. Now, years after the end of the boy band era, Chris Kirkpatrick, one of the members of *NSync, is hoping his new band, Nigel's 11,can achieve similar success. Kirkpatrick is certainly no stranger to the mainstream music scene. He was the countertenor in *NSync and was also instrumental in the formation of the group in Orlando in 1995. Comprised of Kirkpatrick, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Lance Bass, *NSync sold over 56 million records world- wide and was a staple in the boy band phenomenon of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Two of the band's albums reached diamond status and their second album, No Strings Attached, holds the record for the most sales on the first day and week of an album's release. Now almost seven years since *NSync announced its hiatus, Kirkpatrick is the lead singer for Nigel's 11 and is taking on roles he never imagined he would. "I felt very much a part of *NSync. Everybody had a role-Justin and JC had the leads and I did a lot of background because I have that voice," Kirkpatrick said. "Now it's much different. It's a completely new thing for me to work toward and have to learn." Nigel's 11, comprised of Kirkpatrick as the lead vocalist, Mike Bosch on guitar, DaveCarreiro on bass and Ernie Longoria on Drums, has recorded its first album which is in the final stages of mixing.

The airwaves were being dominated by artists such as Britney Spears, Nelly, Blink 182, Destiny’s Child and many more. The huge idea of this era was the rise in boy bands and how impactful they’ve become with such a small amount of time. A boy band can be defined as a vocal group consisting of young male singers, usually in their teenage years or in their early twenties who sing a majority of love songs, have very insync and amazing choreographed dance moves, no physical instruments being played by the members of the band, a huge fan base (usually younger girls), lastly, a couple of heartthrobs to make the fans go crazy.
