They shared a lifelong passion 30 for architecture on a grand scale, inspired by the great buildings of Europe.

33 Over three decades and two generations of Dunravens, Adare Manor was built by talented local craftsmen, in collaboration with architectural geniuses such as James and George Pain, P.C. Hardwick and the legendary . Village Playground Adare Manor is a tribute to the Dunravens’ sense of exuberance, wit, and style. An example of a rare ‘Calendar House’, Adare Manor is adorned with 365 leaded windows, 52 ornate chimneys, 7 stone pillars and 4 towers to mark the annual tally of days, weeks, and 11 seasons in a year. The Manor House is reminiscent of a chateau, sharing many features of the 19th century Gothic Revival and drawing inspiration from a romantic view of the chivalric past. The building displays a wealth of gargoyles, heraldry and decorative stone and wood carvings. Today, this neo- gothic masterpiece remains a byword for beauty and luxury, a matchless manor house hotel set in 840 acres of lush Irish countryside.
